Jeb Bush & the political dynasty issue

I find it annoying that interesting political topics inevitably get hijacked into “Republicans are like this …” and “Democrats are like that …”. It makes this forum little better than YouTube commentary.

Today is the republican primary.

Once it’s decided which candidate will run (Bush), all the money will be behind him. By the time he rolls out of New Hampshire, the little guys will be crushed.

Gerrymandering you say? How does one gerrymander the Senate? As for the House, for every time someone whines about Texas, I’ll see you a Maryland, and raise you an Illinois.

ETA: And a Massachusetts, where they change the rules back and forth every time a Senate seat opens.

Facts don’t worry about being on anyone’s “side”. If Republicans are, for example, hostile to women’s equality, minority rights, the poor, taxes for the rich, then it doesn’t make it equally erroneous if some conservative calls Democrats weak on defense. One side’s right, one side’s wrong

Right, wrong, it doesn’t matter, it’s off topic. Not every political thread needs to devolve into being about how bad the other party is.

Well, that all depends on who wins the rock-paper-scissors match.

The Two Titans are meeting as we post: Romney, Bush to meet amid presidential bid chatter.

They should just play rock-paper-scissors to see which one runs.

Democrats.

It was a great game. Bush and Romney both pulled scissors simultaneously three times. Then Mitt tried the old “best out of three” trick.

And, they say what racist things against their own group?

You cannot possibly be thinking in these terms, of course.

The future isn’t here quite yet. But you’re rearranging the deck chairs on a boat that’s sinking.

Wow, how enlightened. You’re willing to “consider” nominating a person who isn’t a white man. Is that on the agenda?

Noon - Republican Party leaders will gather to choose nominee.
1 PM - Republican Party leaders will consider various candidates who are not white men.
2 PM - Republican Party leaders will nominate a white man.
3 PM - Republican Party leaders will draft a memo telling other groups they should feel honored that they were given a whole hour of consideration.
4 PM - Republican Party leaders will wonder why members of other groups aren’t flocking to the banner.
5 PM - Republican Party leaders ask what it is these other groups wants?
6 PM - Republican Party leaders resolve to find somebody who isn’t a white man and ask them what the problem is.
7 PM - Republican Party leader meeting adjourns.

I should hope not! They’re both nutcases!

Trouble is, to hear you folks the boat has been sinking for the last twenty years or so. Sort of like the classic explanation of the failures of the Soviet grain harvests - 70 consecutive years of bad weather.

I repeat.

Look at the Tea Party. Notice how old they are? What they’re doing is fighting a desperate rearguard action – trying to delay loss of ground that inevitably will be lost eventually.

Fair enough, sorry about that.

Eh, I it’s been mentioned. It’s just kind of moot. Mitt already tried and failed, and his greatest stumbling blocks (tax cheat, bloody-minded financier who bought up companies to loot them, and being in those weird “Latter-Day Saints”) aren’t going away or becoming less of a handicap.

Eh. i think any Republican has reason to welcome a Clinton nomination. Jeb for the reason you mentioned, sure. But any nominee who has skunked Jeb (as will likely happen) can say the GOP has moved past dynasticism while the Dems are still stuck in the last century.
