So Sessions gets an ‘award’ from Craphead/Islamhater David Horowitz…then says… Secularist are unfit for government…because they don’t believe in an “absolute truth”. Ugh…as If I needed more reasons to despise this pointy eared devil.( Daily Beast 01-12-2017 Jay Michealson) This asshat will make Ashcroft look reasonable…
What, like for instance the ‘absolute truth’ that there is no proof that any religion is correct and therefore religious beliefs should be a private matter for the individual with the State staying neutral towards all of them?
It’s funny that people are more comfortable with other people with an opposing and contradictory religion than they are with people who have no religion.
So the people who believe god comands you to wear blue hats at all times and that wearing a red hat is evil will be support someone who says that god commands you to wear a red hat and blue hats are evil more than they’ll support someone who says “this is all ridiculous, let’s govern based on what makes sense and what works rather than the millenia-old hat rules”
Essentially, people of different religions are rooting for different teams, but they’re playing the same sport, so there’s a level of understanding and acceptance there. They’re not going to challenge the fundamental existance of the sport or its merits. But people who have no religion at all and question why people hold those beliefs threaten to bring the entire house of cards down.
This is why pretty much all religious people hate atheists above all other groups.
This. Everyone of the billions of religious people hate atheists more than anything else in the entire world.
That’s not what he said, shit-for-brains.
My cat’s breath smells like cat food.
This. Atheists are all going to be rounded up into death camps.
(What? I thought we were played “Escalating Hyperbole”? I love that game…)
In the non-hyperbole contest, it is now apparent that the Republican nominee for attorney general has explicitly stated that anyone who is an atheist is unfit for government. He has basically said that he does not agree with the First Amendment to the constitution.
But hey - no problems there, amIright? Let’s just exaggerate and make fun of it.
This is a pretty good analogy. Red Sox Fans might hate Yankee fans and vis versa but they will all unite against someone who says that watching baseball is a waste of time.
The first amendment only applies to people who worship the same god as he does, and don’t criticize the govt.
What, do you think it applies to heathens and anarchists too?
There is one absolute truth. It’s none of the government’s goddamned business what I believe.
Nah, it’s “you and I are going to die. But first, taxes !”
I grew up in Montgomery, Alabama during the 1970’s. Churches have been inoculating the population of the South against secularism at least since then. In church, I would literally hear the preacher say, “I am a fundamentalist, and you should be too. Secular humanism is our #1 enemy,” week after week after week. It was not subtle. It was a calculated sociopolitical strategy that is now bearing its hideous fruit. It’s the Alabamification of the US, and I sincerely hope, as Southern as I am, that we manage to find a way to stop it.
It’s not a waste of time. But it is a stupid way of passing the time
As long as I don’t have to do macrame or make a lanyard, I’m all for camp. Yeah!!!
Heathen!
I think in today’s America, many Christians are even less comfortable with Muslims than atheists.
But yes, the sports analogy is apt, as I can testify - being an Alabama-resident atheist with no interest in football.
Per the 2014 Pew poll on religious groups, it’s a dead heat; Muslims clocked in at a 40, atheists at a 41, on a 1-100 scale.
And to your specific point, among Protestants, Muslims beat atheists 36-32; among Catholics, Muslims triumphed again, 40-38.
White evangelicals, working hard to keep their reputation as the most hateful people in America, gave the lowest rankings, 30 for Muslims and 25 for atheists.
That’s even worse than being an atheist!
