Jefferson Beauregard Sessions the third apparently lied under oath January 10, 2017

The US Attorney-General … denies he lied under oath when he told a Senate confirmation committee he’d had no communication with Russians during the election campaign.

I don’t think that link goes where you want it to go.

Copied from the wrong tab. :smack:

Boom?

How many of these piffly booms before something actually happens to Trump?

Truth doesn’t matter. Trump sold part of the platform to Russia? Sure, so what? I knew Trump was Putin’s patsy long ago; so do you, so did everyone with an IQ above that of a potato. **Donald Trump is a traitor. ** He has accepted, or has been promised, money and/or debt relief by the Russian government and/or its agents in return for alteration of U.S. national policy. I knew it was going to happen and so did anyone who has been paying attention, and it’s happening. Before any Trumpists ask, no, I do not have documented proof, but it’s obviously happened and the truth will be out before his term’s done.

But that won’t matter.

Trumpists don’t care, because they choose not to see the truth. Poll after poll has shown that no matter how stupid the lie, Trumpists believe it. The Bowling Green Massacre? Most Trumpists believe in it now, I kid you not. Cheering Muslims in Jersey City on 9/11? An absolute fact to Trumpists; as I’ve related before, if you show them documented evidence it’s wrong they cannot even perceive it, like the hosts in Westworld dreamily saying “It doesn’t look like anything to me.” Terrorist attack in Sweden? It happened. Wiretapping? Completely true. Biggest inauguration crowd ever? Happened. You have a photo that shows it didn’t? It’s a conspiracy.

Truth doesn’t matter. We’re in a very bad place in history right now. We’re in an phase of emotion, idolatry, and anger. During those phases people don’t listen to facts.

As long as Trump gives Congress an acceptable amount of what it wants he’s unimpeachable. Rachel Maddow’s little speech is weak; the story isn’t even on the front page of any major news outlet. If you had something one thousand times more convincing - a full blown investigative report, with documents, eyewitnesses, and the works, twice as much proof as you would need to convict ten men of crimes, that Donald Trump had traded U.S. nuclear weapons secrets to Vladimir Putin in exchange for sex slaves, whom he raped and murdered, it would not matter. The Trumpists would simply not see the proof, and as long as Trump gave Congress what they wanted, they wouldn’t, either.

Let’s look at this “boom” shall we?

"“Former Trump campaign nat sec adv JD Gordon tells me he and other nat sec adv’s met with Russian Amb in Cleveland during GOP convention” and “Then Senator Jeff Sessions presided over the meeting, Gordon added.”

Let’s see what that meeting actually was.

This was the event. It was a two day event, with the article in the cite referring to the first day.

“On Tuesday, July 19, Global Cleveland welcomed roughly 80 international ambassadors to its Global Partners in Diplomacy reception at Severance Hall. The event, coordinated in partnership with the 2016 Republican National Convention and the U.S. Department of State, introduced the ambassadors to nearly 200 of Northeast Ohio’s civic and corporate leaders.”

This is the WaPo description of the second day, which Sessions attended:

“… Sessions attended a Heritage Foundation event in July on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention that was attended by about 50 ambassadors. When the event was over, a small group of ambassadors approached Sessions as he was leaving the podium, and Kislyak was among them, the Justice Department official said.”

Is this your BOOM?

Pathetic.

I’m afraid this entire post is completely 100% correct.

It was bad before - Many Republicans believing things that were demonstrably false. Now? Now they are proud of it. It is a lifestyle for them. Trump saw this years ago - its why he decided to make his run under the Republican banner. He saw that these voters were primed to believe any utter nonsense he spewed out. I imagine he is still amazed at what these voters will believe.

At this point, Trump could tell Republicans that we’re under attack by the Mole-Men from the far side of the moon, and therefore they should all send him $20 before noon next Monday, and he’d be rolling in cash before the weekend is out.

You didn’t even read his fucking post, did you?

Yes I did. Full of “alternative facts”. Like this one:

“He has accepted, or has been promised, money and/or debt relief by the Russian government and/or its agents in return for alteration of U.S. national policy.”

If society is that bad, the solution is the one that goes violent–the one I said I hoped wouldn’t be necessary.

I don’t think we’re to that point. Republicans aren’t that awful. That’s what made electing Trump (or even advocating for him) seem so much worse.

An extended bit of speculation, perhaps, but if you’re looking for “alternative facts,” try:

“SESSIONS: Sen. Franken, I am not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign, and** I did not have communications with the Russians**, and I am unable to comment on it.”

Seems like a good place to trot out one of my favorite bits of George Orwell:

Or more succinctly, “Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.”

The ACLU has filed a complaint. I hope they used some of my money for that!

I’ll wait and see if this accomplishes anything.
