Jenny McCarthy gets a talk show (and the antivax movement)

My question… Jenny McCarthy’s pretty young. Will she live to see either the discovery of the definitive cause of autism and/or a cure? Because that would be super awesome. Although she’d probably find some way to spin it in her favor and say it was that + vaccines or something.

Also, my sister is an anti-vaxxer and I really want to rub it in her face.

Yeah, it won’t matter. It’ll simply be that “Yes, that’s one of the causes of autism”.

Like most CTers there comes a point where it’s hard to make the case that they aren’t just flat-out lying. This bitch has gone way beyond misguided knee-jerk reaction to horrible circumstance. I’m holding my 10-week old son now and the thought of this hurting him somehow sickens me.

“She’s the celebrity spokesperson for the anti-vaccination movement”

Why do you say she’s ‘anti-vacs’?

Because she tells lies about the safety of current vaccinations.

Why don’t you acknowledge that she’s anti-vax?

Because she isn’t, she’s pro-green vacs. Did you read her website or watch the beginning of the Diane Sawyer interview? Anti means against. She’s not against them, she wants green vacs and less given at one time.

She’s still spreading lies about the current vaccines that have proven to be safe and effective, even if she advocates alternative vaccines.

She’s not pro-green vax, because what we have now is green. She’s pro-not-looking-like-a-complete-fraud-to-her-followers. She has to know by now that she was dead wrong about her son, and about vaccines in general. But if she were to come out and say that, she she’d be admitting she was a fool to those who don’t already know it. So, she has to channel her crusade in another direction. Yeah, it’ll costs kids their lives, but that’s nothing compared to her image.

<Sarcasm> I’m not against Jake Steele, I just want a Jake Steele who doesn’t abuse small animals, steal from blind orphans and eat babies. Why must you call me “anti Jake Steele”? Why? I just want an honest, decent Jake Steele</Sarcasm>

I am pro-democracy. Wait a minute, we already have a democracy; therefore, I am not pro-democracy.

It’s at the “wait a minute, we already have a democracy” part where your analogy breaks down. Why would Ms. McCarthy be lobbying furiously for something she believes is already in place?

A friend of mine just posted a link on our moms’ group message board to this local news story about vaccines causing brain damage. The doctor quoted in that article is Andrew Moulden. I can’t find any reputable information about him, either pro or con. Has anyone heard of him? I would like to make a post to the moms’ group board “proving” that this guy is a total loon. Which, of course, any reasonable person could tell by looking at his website.

Side effects may include, but are not limited to: Headache, nausea, learning disabilities, other vaccinations, and war.

I know, obviously he’s insane. But I am afraid he’s not insane enough to convince some of the more extreme anti-vaxxers in my moms’ group, which is why I was looking for some other cite. Although, I guess in those cases, no source that you or I would consider reputable would be convincing.

I have a healthbook like that. One of it’s health risks of alcohol is manslaughter.

Well, I can guarantee you that “prove” anything – you’re likely dealing with the unconvinceable.

However, you can let them know that Moulden is an equal-opportunity loon – in addition to spreading his crap regarding autism, he’s also a 9/11 truther.

Hey, it all makes sense if you watch his DVDs. And don’t worry – the fact that he’s making $45+ off of each sucker he convinces to order them has nothing to do with it. No, really…

Oh good grief.

Andrew Moulden is the new head of The Canadian Action Party. Check out YouTube for footage of him explaining his various political & scientific causes. (He’s a real Renaissance Dingbat.)

I’d like to come out against brain damage, too. So–don’t mess with the YouTube stuff if you value your sanity; it hurt my head. Then I clicked over to Nat King Cole singing “Stardust” & the pain disappeared.

Facts do nothing to change these people’s minds- believe me, I know. It got to the point where I couldn’t even sit in the lobby of a couple of therapists’ offices, due to the insane rantings of these moms. I understand that you are scared and desperate, but that is no excuse for taking your brain out and leaving it by the side of the 405 to get run over by a truck…
