Years ago I saw Art Fleming on the old* Later with Bob Costas* show. He made a point of mentioning this difference, and he liked it better the old way. If you were confident enough with a category you could take the risk of ‘pre-ringing’ each time, with mixed results.
Sounds risky. Dangerous, even. Likely to cause injury to someone. Something like that.
Yeah, I really doubt that could have been the case. TV and film sets use miles of duct tape to secure cables and set pieces etc. but especially if you’re talking about when the Jeopardy board used actual, heavy, bulky CRTs there is no way it could have been held together like that.
FYI, back when Art Fleming hosted the show the board was **completely **manual. The question covers were just sliding cards pulled open by stage crew hidden behind it.
Depends how much of the stuff you use. Enough duct tape could hold a herd of elephants up.
