Jericho 10/4 (spoilers)

I’m starting to wonder if it was really a nuke as well. When they came out of the bomb shelter after the rain, Jericho should’ve been so hot it would’ve glowed at night. But no, there was barely even background radiation on the Geiger counter. Also, what are the odds that we’ll start seeing most of the population losing their hair thanks to radiation- I mean, that would seriously cut down on the shampoo ad revenue for the show.

Also, I thought it was funny that they sealed the rest of the population in the mine by collapsing the mine’s entrance. “Hey guys? When it rains, all that radioactive ash is going to be collecting on the ground… and we’ll have to dig the rest of our neighbors out? Care to think this through again?”

Between the plane crash and the huge supply of shipment of food at the end of the episode, I was surprised to see the labels NOT read ‘Dharma’.

That said, do you think this show would have been better on a different network? It seems to be a gentler, softer apocalypse rather than anything really gritty. Even the ‘killer outlaws’ weren’t THAT bad once we met them (they talked a good talk but were ultimately useless).

The HBO or British version of Jericho would kick ass. Judging by the spoilers on Spoilerfix Jericho is going to down hill fast. Less post-apocalypse more family drama. I was hoping to see a 21st century version of Alas Babylon, but this ain’t it.

I missed the first two. Has there been any reference to their water supply? I don’t know if groundwater would become radioactive after the rain or not.

I dunno. Maybe on a premium channel or F/X. Or even possibly FOX.

Me, too. This had so much potential, and they’re pissing it away. Now it will be years before someone tries to do it right.

Well I’ve watched the first three. After each show (the pilot even), I’ve said “I’ll give this one more chance”. After last night, I’m not sure if there’ll be another. Though I do want to know what the deal is with Hawkins.

I’m normally not much of a spoiler guy at all, but I did go to Spoilerfix (thanks alphaboi. I think it’s a good read for anyone who’s still up in the air about the show, as (if accurate) really shows the utter shash that this show has in store. Definitely less survivalist and more family drama.

Damn! (disappointed)

Didn’t seem that “family drama” to me.
Spoiler box what annoys you. Maybe I can save some disk space.

It all depends on weather and wind patterns, which are variable and hard to predict. It looked like Denver was hit with a ground burst, which should produce a substantial amount of fallout. The fires ignited by the nuclear blast would also produce a lot of ash, which wouldn’t be radioactive. That’s why you need a geiger counter, to know what’s a hazard and what is safe. They shouldn’t have left their shelters until they had checked that the radiation levels were acceptably low.

Children begin returning to school and an accident with a downed power line happens out on the playground when the power comes back on. I can only imagine the Indigo Girls music that goes along with this scene.

Jake’s father is sick and Emily agrees to talk with Jonah to get the help he needs. Meanwhile, Dale is falling in with the wrong crowd and quits work at Gracie’s

I’m pretty sure they did this on a “very special” Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Emily dreams of the morning of her wedding to Roger, waking up and realizing it was a dream and Roger is most likely dead. She realizes she’s been drinking daily, spent the nights alone and has been having imaginary conversations with him.

Ugh.

I suppose these could all be totally false, I definitely have no inherent respect for the accuracy of internet spoilers. But having watched the show so far, it sure seems possible…inevitable.

Boooo!

The last two sound pretty grim indeed, but we don’t know how much time they are spending on those scenes.
Has the possibility to really suck, though.

Third episode in and already the pool has been filled with water, the sharks (with frickin’ “laser” beams on their heads) are swimming around, the ramps have been set up and the motorcycle has a full tank of gas and is idling, just waiting for the rider…

the only attraction this show has for me now (aside from snarking about it on TWOP) is figuring ou what other cities now have a healthy green glow, and what the frak the story is with Leoben…err… Hawkins

it looks like the role of “Best <fill in the blank> in the fleet” is a contest between Jack “i’m not an ex-con, really” Green and the annoying “Magical teen boy” kid who has a crush on the “mean girl”, heck at this point, they’re so generic that their names slipped my mind…
i’m waiting for the Radioactive Zombies (Band name!) to show up any minue now…or at the very least, some Cylon Centurions

personally, i’m rooting for the Zombies…

I wonder why DC doesn’t seem to have been nuked? Since the attacks occured during a joint-session of Congress it would’ve been the perfect chance to cause chaos with the federal government.

And damn, that’d be a cool show. I’d watch that every week. If we can have a nuclear holocaust series, why can’t we have a zombie series? Hell, after a while, all of the holocaust survivors are going to LOOk like zombies.

I think this show would be much more interesting if it were on a cable network. I remember J. Michael Straczynski’s series “Jeremiah” on Showtime. Now, there was a post-apocalyptic show with bite. So far, “Jericho” has very little bite. The more I watch it, the more I feel as if I am being gummed to death.
