Jes' down the road a bit...

I was looking something up and I ran across a picture of this milage sign that amused me. And yes, that sign is in Texas.

Those last 400 miles is what kills you, though. Yikes. Boooooring!

Tell me about it. When I was a kid we did the 6 hour Ft. Worth to Big Spring trip constantly. I swear the last 40 miles existed in a time warp and took longer to drive than the rest of the trip.

Cool signs at that site. One of my faves, seen too many times:

Just how the heck do you pronounce that?

I spent a friggin’ day and a half driving on I-10 from west to east all the way through Texas. Man… .

I still remember all the restaurants with signs that said “60 ounce Porterhouse - free if you eat it in one sitting.” They may as well have just said “Get reealllly stoned and your meal is free.”

Ah, yes. I’ve seen that sign many times. (I never have a camera with me though.) It’s pronounced “ZIZZ-icks”.

By the way, the drive to Las Vegas is really pretty. It’s amazing how many colours there are in the desert, if only you pay attention. And the rocks! Beautiful.
