‘biblically’ speaking - one could argue that his second coming was the resurection - and that all of this “second second coming” is what will never happen - of course, many of the promises and expectations of that first second coming were also a big miss.
This is why I have asked people who some were clergy, some used the Ressurection, some the Transfiguration, but admit there was no angels or coming in Glory. I also wonder why they never have an explaination of what happened to the people standing there listening to Jesus didn’t live to see the coming in glory of the father with his angels, or the story of the world’s end in that generation, they say the word generation didn’t mean like we do today, but Matthew used it the same way when he wrote that there were 14 generations between David and Jesus, using the same word?
I realize it is a matter of faith and not fact, and they did need something to explain to people who questioned the teachings. But it is my opinion if a God inspired something he/she would want the truth to be taught and known.
The Resurrection, and especially The Ascension, the Vision of the Martyr Stephen (later also given to James the Just, Brother of Jesus at his martyrdom & probably many other Apostolic martyrs), the showing of The Revelation to John, the Heavenly Armies seen in the sky at the Siege of Jerusalem- all were aspects of some seeing Christ coming in the Glory of the Father with Angels attending. Later generations mistakenly thought that Jesus meant coming back to Earth, but his language references Daniel 7’s vision of the Son of Man coming in the Clouds of Heaven to the Ancient of Days- in other words, the coming of the Son into Heaven before the Father.
Also, the Aion (World) was supposed to end in that generation, not the Kosmos (World) or Gaia (Earth)- and indeed the Destruction of the Temple & Priesthood & Sacrificial System definitively ended the Mosaic Covenantial Era. Thus, Rabbinic Judaism was developed & the Talmuds written to preserve Judaism without the Levitical system.
That maybe your way of looking at it,but there were no one still living that saw Jesus (in the flesh as he stated) that saw him come in his father’s glory with any angels and Jesus when he talked of the world’s end contradicted John’s versions in Revlations. John may well have been not in his right mind, like many people today who say they have visions
The believers need somthing to cling to when what Jesus predicted din’t happen. The sun didn’t go out, the moon didn’t turn to blood ,and the stars didn’t fall.
Aas a matter of fact as I stated before no one saw Jesus Ressurect nor did any one close to him seem to think he hadn’t died, or why would they come to anoint his body, or why would his mother come to the tomb, surely she would have known and I would expect he would first appear to his mother.if she knew he was truly the son of God then she would not have worried about his dying.
It was written that Thomas had to put his finger in the wounds so he would be sure it was Jesus, but why Jesus if he Ressurected in a glorified body would no longer have wounds. I know it is a matter of belief, but it seems to me a Supreme being could have redeemed a people without all the extra pagentry many years before so many people had suffered, and died. There were many generations before Jesus was said to come. and it still leaves the question of why he said he only came for the lost sheep of Israel, if his purpose was to save all man kind. And there is no proof except the word of many people who decided what was of God and what was not!
As a belated post script, the Ascention was a going up, not a coming down!So in that case Jesus was going…not coming as you suggested.
