Jesus Fuckin Christ! My sister notified she has cancer by update of status on web page.

Um, simple Q:

Show of hands:

How many really see a difference between deliberately logging into an application, clicking “my History” then “View test results” then double-clicking a specific test, the name of which you just double-clicked.
AND
A call from the office saying “Come in to discuss your test results”
?

It’s not like you get a huge pop-up when you first boot - you have to go looking and be determined to get to the test, then ask to see the result.
If you are worried about the result, you might want to wait until you get the
“your test was negative/Come in to discuss…”
call.

No, of cause not - patients should always ask every question they can think of: some do, some don’t, but they should either way.

But once they have some serious illness, they tend to not take in what the Doctor or Nurse says the first time (or even 2nd & 3rd time) anyhow – so why waste the time in the first place.

Anything after: “Sorry to inform you, that you have Cancer of the….. “ will swoosh over their head anyhow.

Normally people will call their Doctor/Nurse anyhow and ask her/him about the results anyhow.

Most people prefer or a able to deal better with the impersonal “touch” and just want the results - good or bad.
Or at least, this is what I’ve been told by a medical professional (my wife), who does exactly this: visit, treat, call and answer the phone to people with critical/terminal illnesses.
