I just wanted to add a comment about this. I don’t have much of a stake in this, as I’ve never fed a troll (unless talking to peace in a GQ thread counts). But my comment is in reference to Arnold W.'s quote from the FAQ:

I think that, like weirddave said, sometimes these threads bring out some of the best “witty rejoinders” from the teeming millions. Yeah, often these threads contain generic simpsons’ quotes, but they also sometimes contain some original responses. I know I’ve gotten more than a few laughs out of these threads. I’d consider that a useful addition, per the FAQ. One of the trademarks of Cecil’s colums is his wit…while some posters only have half of that wit, I think that the one’s who can pull it off are contributing to the board.

I would hope that there would be some leeway for posters in a case such as the thread referenced here, where specific posters have been called out by the “troll.” If someone said my “[time] will come,” I would hope I would be allowed the opportunity to respond. It might feed the troll’s ego, but it also would allow the offended poster an opportunity to vent.

Okay, I’ve been chatting and posting now in various communities online for about 5 years.

I’ve even gone to “Triv Travel” conventions where those of us who met online meet up annually to meet gasp IRL and party! (so far I’ve met about 60+ people from all over the world,not many I know,but fun!!!).

But (and this is a compliment), I have NEVER seen as many clever and unusual acronyms such as the ones used in this community.

Is there a “legend,” or list of them?

Hey, we had a Chrissy Dopefest in Melbourne (Australia) last Sunday. While we couldn’t muster 60 people to share in the festivities, 6 isn’t bad for a city that can only boast 3 million. It would’ve been more except for the pikers…:wink:
