Jesus Question

Well, as a matter of faith, we can assume Mary was a virgin when she 'concieved" JC. However, there is no indication that she was a virgin after that, and plenty of verses that indicate JC had brothers. As for JC, probably, yes- common amoung “prophets”.

Well, I’m not even going to try to prove the truth of this assertation, but it’s the official dogma of the Catholic Church that in addition to being a virgin at the time of the birth of Jesus, Mary never had sex after that in her life, at all. It’s also official dogma that Mary was totally without sin, original or otherwise. In fact, these two points are the only points on which any Pope has ever officially spoken ex cathedra, with the presumption of total papal infallibility. Apparently, some folks take this pretty seriously.

That said, jamesglewisf raises an excellent point about Mary referring to a “savior”, and that that implies a need to be saved. I’ll have to ask a priest about that…

The problem without masturbation is that for males, especially in the teen years, is to exist with a permanent stiffee. It is a biological release. At 15 the wind would blow and I would get stiff.

I am a little biased in the fact that I feel Mary was no virgin and Jesus was not divine. He had a temper, especially when hungry. Why else would he make a fig tree wither and die just because it did not have fruit right when HE wanted figs. He was very human. He let a woman rub his feet in oil, a very erotic act.

Very little is known about him. It is perfectly logical that he remained celibate, but with biological urges that needed release I can see him spanking the monkey a time or two. Or did he just withold it until a nocturnal emmission.

This argument appears in about 500 various incarnations in Great Debates. Please feel free to go over there, find one of them, and post to your heart’s content.
