Jian Ghomeshi, host of Q on CBC, fired.

“CBC management knew of Ghomeshi allegations since June,” according to this article and a CBC documentary. I haven’t watched the documentary yet. I think it’s available online.

Top of that page is the latest episode of W5 which is the documentary you may be speaking of.

Thanks. Yes, it was what I was talking about. I just finished watching it. Found it on YouTube on the CBC’s News YouTube channel.
The article I posted in my previous post sums up much of the documentary, I find.

This reads like a press release from the ‘Crisis Management’ firm named in the third paragraph (the traditional place in a PR press release to name the company).

This article on sexual aggression in chimpanzees really hits a nerve.

I read in a local Montreal French-language newspaper that Ghomeshi will be back in court January 8, if I read it correctly and I’m remembering it correctly.

On Tuesday night I accidentally fell asleep with CBC Radio on and was shocked awake in the middle of the night by the sound of Ghomeshi’s voice. It was a radio show using a sound clip of his voice in a news story. Looking back, I think the radio show must have been PRI’s “The World.” I don’t know much about PRI, but looking at their website, it says they’re in partnership with BBC and WGBH.

These news items go to show you that this story is being reported outside of English Canada and the CBC, I suppose.

Article in the Guardian by one of Ghomeshi’s victims, a Q employee, on how the CBC enabled him.

Not much news about the scandal lately, but here’s a news article I just found, from yesterday, I think.
Jian Ghomeshi booked guests that shared his agent, lawyer - explains how some of Q’s guests were chosen.
From the article: “The apparent favouring of some musicians over others has rankled artists who have found themselves shut out of Q.”

Thought I’d update this thread with the news that the CBC is removing Ghomeshi’s old interviews/shows from its online archives. [Here’s one article](CBC hears no evil, scrubs Ghomeshi from archives) on the subject (this article is by Jesse Brown, who was instrumental in breaking the story in the first place.)

Or maybe not, apparently.

Heads are starting to, well, not roll, but wobble a bit at CBC:

CBC suspends two senior executives who managed Ghomeshi file

Trial starts Thursday, though, this article says, probably not a lot will happen on that day.

That was a powerful article Emily, thanks for posting it.

You’re welcome, AZRob.

I wonder if we’ll hear much about the trial tomorrow.

Ghomeshi faces 3 new charges, according to this article. He appeared in court today. His next court appearance is February 4.

Thought I’d update this thread to say that rapper Shad has been named the new host of Q.

Should have been Kevin Smith. I was amazed how good he was.

I really liked Candy Palmater. Though I imagine Shad will do well, and may pull in some new listeners too. I’m just kind of wondering if/how his music career will continue.

I like Shad, I think he does a great job. I think Wab Kinew also would have been a good choice.

Should have been Kevin Smith at what? I like him and would like to know what you are referring to and where I can find it.
