Jim Parsons in Harvey starts Broadway previews Friday, May 18th

Story here.

Just a heads up to all you Big Bang fanatics. And I hope Parsons gets a Tony to go with his two Emmys.

I think Parsons could nail this part.

Will he play Elwood as gay?

It’s the rabbit that matters, not the sex.

I thought he was playing Harvey.

But Harvey’s invisible

I have seen Parsons live at Stages Rep in Houston a couple of times, back before he got on TV. I highly recommend seeing any play he is in. He will make a great Elwood.

Parsons is a Furry and used his star power to force changes in the script so he could dress up every night except Monday plus matinees on Wednesday and Saturday. The changes include making Harvey a squirrel because that’s how he likes to dress.*

    • Unlikely to be true.

I saw the first preview of this show on Friday night and really enjoyed Parsons in the role! This was the 2nd time I’d seen him on stage (I saw him in The Normal Heart last year.) I’ve never seen the film so I don’t know how similar he was to Jimmy Stewart, but I thought he was great!

From the linked article:

You see, science has overcome time and space. Well, Harvey has overcome not only time and space, but any objections!

Parsons is more of a stage actor than a TV actor. That’s why Sheldon is such a great role for him. His gestures and postures were honed on the stage. This seldom plays well on TV, except in comedy roles.

I think Jim Parsons is similar to Katherine Helmond in Soap. The only thing on TV where their stagey style would work is comedy.
