To be executive produced by Lorne Michaels, who goes from producing a show (SNL) that regularly satirizes TV talk shows to actually producing a talk show.
Lorne Michaels also produced Conan’s Late Night incarnation and currently produces Jimmy Fallon’s.
So, Loren, why couldn’t we just get Seth at 11:30?
NBC seems to have a fetish for promoting the 12:30 guy but screwing it up.
It’s possible that Seth has no desire to leave SNL, or that he’ll follow Jimmy’s lead and take over 12:30. Or do something else entirely. He’s currently got a good gig as head writer and Update host on SNL and seems to enjoy it.
Fallon is something of a known product now. Seth Meyers would be a more unknown quantity.
Not that that has necessarily worked out in the past. Witness Conan. Still, the premise is the later time slot is a practice session and training ground for the Tonight Show slot.
