ABC’s Nexstar wants to takeover rival broadcaster Tegna. They want the FCC and Trump to be in a good mood about it.
To repeat what has already been said:
He did not make any Charlie Kirk comments.
Every media outlet, including this one, is perpetrating a lie by having that be the headline.
He did not comment about Charlie Kirk’s death.
He commented on Republicans trying to spin the demographic of the killer and Trump’s comic response when asked how he’s coping with the death of his friend. He didn’t say a single negative thing about Kirk, not one.
Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air for commenting about Republicans and Donald Trump, a few short months after Trump said publicly that Jimmy Kimmel was going to be the next late night host cancelled.
You’re right. Mea culpa. As the OP, I have asked for a change to the thread title.
Done.
Can we also fix the similarly problematic thread title in the Politics & Elections forum?
Done, good thing I was reading this thread though. ABC pulls Jimmy Kimmel show indefinitely because of comments about GOP response to Charlie Kirk death
Is there any word on if Jimmy Kimmel has had anything to say about this?
(Not the thread title changes, ha ha.)
If Nexstar takes over Tegna, that will give them the ABC and Fox affiliates in the market I live in. And Sinclair owns the CBS affiliate. The NBC affiliate is owned by Hearst, which takes a right down the middle approach to news coverage at their O&Os.
I worked for the Hearst station. They were truly non-partisan, and people still accused us of being left-wing shills.
That’s because reality has a left-wing bias.
Exactly. If you’re not actively pushing alt right propaganda then you’re a “left wing shill”. There is no such thing as non-partisan anymore.
The Overton window isn’t being pushed or pulled so much as it’s been shoved off a cliff and left to die.
Just to be clear on this: Nexstar has no direct corporate connection to Disney/ABC.
Nexstar owns or “partners with” 200 TV stations across the U.S.; 30 of those stations are ABC affiliates (i.e., local TV stations which carry ABC programming); the other Nexstar stations are affiliated with the other networks, or are independents. There are a total of ~230 ABC affiliates in the U.S., plus 8 “owned-and-operated” stations, which are owned by Disney/ABC itself.
Nexstar is attempting to merge with Tegna, which also owns and operates 65 local TV stations, including an additional 13 ABC affiliates.
Our local Sinclair affiliate KOMO, in place of Kimmel’s show, is airing a tribute to Charlie Kirk on Friday.
This may be paywalled:
What is really scary is that 25% of democrats admit to being ok with political violence. It can’t be normalized anymore. Charlie was not a racist he simply stood up for what he believes in and he died for it.
Cite?
It couldn’t be possible that you pulled that percentage out of your ass, but I’ll still ask for a cite. One that includes Republicans and their approval rate for political violence.
Charlie Kirk was a fucking racist.
Except for all the things he said about Black people of course, dipshit.
It’s not racism if he really, truly believed it. /s
You are an incredibly full piece of shit, a pandering troll, or more likely both.
Would you like a cite?: Here is long list of evidence of Kirk’s remarks that were racist, sexist, or intended to incite political or racial violence.
Now, how about you provide a cite for your outrageous claim that “25% of democrats admit to being ok with political violence”. Not Newsmax or InfoWars or whatever garbage conspiranoia website or blog you get what passes for news; an actual poll or study from some recognized organization that can actually back up that claim with anything of substance. You may use both sides of the paper.
Stranger
If he was not a racist, he sure did a great job of playing one on TV:
“If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified.”
“If you’re a WNBA, pot-smoking, Black lesbian, do you get treated better than a United States marine?”
“Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.”
“If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?”
“If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.”
“The great replacement strategy, which is well under way every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different.”
What percentage of Republicans think that not only is political violence OK but also deserves a Presidential pardon? Violence has been normalized and Trump is the person that did it.
