Jimmy Spencer Suspended 1 Week-- Fair?

Jimmy Spencer was suspended for one week and fined $25,000 for punching Kurt Busch after yesterdays NASCAR Winston Cup event. He can still possibly face assault charges in Michigan, but that decision won’t be made until later in the week.

I think he got off easy. Last year, Kevin Harvick got the same punishment for rough driving (some can argue that Spencer is a rough driver, also. His nickname is “Mr. Excitement”, after all…) and grabbing Greg Biffle by the firesuit and engaging in a shouting match after a race (story). Harvick never threw a punch or caused physical injury. While the extent of Kurt Busch’s injuries are unclear, he has been reported to have either a broken nose or chipped tooth, depending on who you ask.

Spencer should have been suspended for a minimum of two races, docked 100 championship points (not that they’d matter to him, he’s in 28th place, 1300 points back), and fined $75K.

As a northeast Mod fan, screw Spencer. On the other hand screw Busch. I think that Busch with his cocky attitude and dumbo ears was asking for it, I’ve known several A@@holes
with the same mentality and the same “I should be a
supermodel, puking female super skinny body physique” as
that Rousch racing numbskull.

I think Spencer got what he deserved, if he got into it with Newman, he would have been in the hospital. One week for whacking someone in the garage is easy, (REMEMBER there ARE
people in the garage).

Back to the OP. Remember back a few years ago when some
numb nutz smacked someone at (I think) south Boston, with no
Pit wall and they suspended him for 4 races, since he could have
hurt bystanders. Same thing applies here as far as I am concerned.

Oh well, I think Busch NEEDED the smack in the head and I think
Beer Belly Spencer was just dumb enough to do it at the wrong
time. Both arrogant idiots as far as I am concerned, though
those two could have fun at Bristol.

Hitting someone while they’re strapped into a car is pretty damn weak. It’s not like they can come after you.

Spencer doesn’t deserve to race at a local dirt track. Not that I’m a big fan of Olive Oil, but still.
