"Joe, American" Challenges the Presidential Candidates

He speaks the truth…imho.

What do you all think?

A 9 minute video? A summary would have been nice, or your opinion barring that.

“Let’s use the oil reserves in the federal land” and accusations of elitism if we don’t. Not terribly original.

Also, Obama does have energy plans that involve alternate energy uses, contrary to this guy’s claims. I confirmed that by two clicks on Obama’s website.

First he says we need to be independent of foreign oil by 2020, then he talks about Iraq as our preferred source (after we end the war there) to and past 2020 - is he counting their oil as “ours”? Because I’m thinking the Iraqis have something else to say about that.

A lot of talk, nothing earthshattering. Independence from foreign oil, handwaving about alternate sources, blaming the politicians.

Try to make more of an effort at an OP than just linking to a video and saying “whaddaya think.” Put some content in there.

This guy is even more transparent in his agenda than your average politician. I wonder if he owns land in Texas.

He’s arguing that we exhaust our domestic oil reserves before any alternative energy source is feasible? That would empower the Middle East even more than what’s happening now.

I agree that the new President Obama ought to establish a firm Energy Plan on a strict timeline and invest in it on a massive federal scale. I think the analogy to the Space Race is apt.

I think that we should expect repayment from Iraq for the investment made there, though the political explanation will have to be a very delicate one, and that treating them as a preferred oil trading partner is a solution. However, I’m not sure what leverage we have to enforce that type of arrangement and what the international response would be but it’s worth investigating. This clown seriously over simplifies the issue though.

I guess we’re either going to nationalize our oil companies and resources, or we’re going to convince Exxon and the like to sell us “our” oil for $2 a gallon even though the Chinese are offering $4. Great plan.

Iraq is going to discount their oil to give it to the country that invaded it. Yeah, that’ll work. They owe us because we gave them their “freedom”. Well, freedom means they get to decide what to do with their own resources, and I think that just might mean selling them to the highest bidder.

Joe, American - with a ninth grade education.

My thought was to have people here watch the video themselves and comment…

What I got from the video was that America does have it’s own oil reserves, and it doesn’t make any sense that we are buying oil all from all over the world when we have our own right here in our own backyard. I also like the idea that we use part of the money people will spend on developing alternative renewable energy instead of giving all that money to the Middle East. Like he said a…sort of energy revolution to get us off the crude oil tit.

We have Oil Reserves so that we won’t fall into anarchy if OPEC suddenly decides to stop selling to our non-Muslim asses. Exhausting those resources would make us beholden to them and be a national security risk on a magnitude that defies explanation.

This guy is monumentally dumb.

We don’t have that much oil reserves. He claims we have 5-7 years worth, other sources say 3 years. Then it’s gone. No emergency oil, no nothing. Tapped out. What happens in that time if we don’t find a miracle alternate energy source? With the flooding in the Midwest this year, that corn crop is looking pretty sad, and even if it wasn’t, it still wouldn’t be enough to meet our needs if turned into biodiesel.
