I’m so old that I thought this thread was about Joan Baez at the Grammies the other night, in her speech before The Dixie Chicks sang their hit song. Which of course I did not watch…
And after writing post #20, I got the OP title. :smack:
It’s like my mom used to tell me. “Buy ya books and buy ya books and all ya do is eat the covers!”
OMG! Too weird.
I’m sitting here re-ripping all my CD’s to mp3 (wma sucks) and I put in Woodstock. The random shuffle played Joe Hill! I swear!
:: cue up the Twilight Zone music ::
From San Diego up to Maine
Behind every tree and hill
Where terror shivers down your spine
It’s there you find Joe Hill
Ya know, there actually is an author named Joe King.
But I’m never really sure if you can trust what he’s written
Well, I had an Amazon gift certificate to use (yay!) and so ordered Heart Shaped Box. Looking forward to it! I did read the first bit on Joe Hill/King’s site, so was sufficiently intrigued. I’d like to get the short story collection, too, if the novel’s good.
I liked the novel, and I just finished the short story collection. None of the stories really blew me away, but they weren’t a waste of time either. The last story (the obligatory Lovecraftian tale) was my favorite.
Heart-Shaped Box is good book, is good book. Read, read. You like! I no read King. I like!
I picked up Heart Shaped Box after seeing it praised in another author’s blog. I really enjoyed it - the first third is creeeepy. After that, the spookiness pulled back and it had more of a mystery vibe. I liked it enough to forgo all of my other pastimes until I finished, and I find a book that good once a year or so, if I’m lucky.
Why, I actually saw him lately! And, yes, I’m as old as you and Exapno Mapcase.
