Joe's of Kansas City BBQ, fka Oklahoma Joe's

Axiomatic, implied.

The one day I was in KC and headed over to Joe’s, it was a Sunday and they were closed. Darn! Between Arthur Bryant and Jack Stack, I prefer the food at Arthur Bryant. If on a romantic date, then Jack Stack for sure for the ambiance.

Next time I’m in KC, I’ll hit Joe’s for sure. I hear it’s great.

We heard about the legendary lines at Joe’s, so we showed up about 20 minutes or so before they opened for lunch, and we ended up only being like fifth or sixth in line. This was on a weekday, though. That said, even when it started filling up, that line was efficient. I mean, like they had it down to a science and just chewed through order after order. Now, we were one of the first, but our food was out to us faster than at a McDonald’s. I was at the soda machine filling up my cup with Big Red and our food was already out! And it was a fairly complicated order for three people with about six to eight different items total, some with special instructions, and it came out exactly as ordered without them writing anything down, from what I remember. Seriously, I was stunned at their efficiency.
