John 17: 1-5, 24 Christ existed with God before the world was?

John 17: 1-5, 24 “Christ existed with God before the world was.” However, a SD moderator says not, Christianity did not exist before Christ

Since this is a religious question, it belongs in Great Debates.
However, to answer your question, although we Christians take the passage
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him” (John 1:1-3). to mean that Christ existed before the world was created, he didn’t found Christianity until he became flesh.

Joel nailed it right off the bat. To (mainstream-tradition) Christians, the Logos, as addressed in the Gospel of John, is one and the same as Jesus, who is the Christ. Second person of the Trinity. Is God, is with God, from eternity.

Think of it this way, SwingWing. Did “America”, the place, exist before 4 July 1776? Before 12 October 1492? Sure, they didn’t call it that, but it was there, wasn’t it?

Christianity is a religion that did not exist before Jesus.

If you are going to back up your point with the Bible, that is not fact. – it’s debate.
