John Bolton fired via Tweet

It’s interesting to see where he views the political center line to be. George W. Bush would clearly be a socialist. Would he also view Dick Cheney to be on the political left and a progressive?

I believe Tucker would find some nice words to say at Hitler’s funeral.

So, Mitch McConnell comes to you and says, “I will force the President to hire you as NSA. You will have significant control over our national security policy and have power to minimize the President’s worst impulses - though you will have to accept enough bad decisions that you are able to maintain the position long enough that you can continue to block his worst impulses. If you choose not, then the President will appoint Alex Jones and, because of his popularity with the Republican base, the Senate will be forced to approve him. If you last long enough in the role, then there’s an 80% chance that we will be able to push another semi-qualified individual onto the President over Alex Jones. If not, then he will probably appoint Alex Jones.”

Sometimes, all of the options are bad, but some are less worse.

National Security Advisor does not require senate approval. Moscow Mitch has no leverage here.

That’s a prime example of a major problem that keeps getting passes - even people who think Trump is terrible, corrupt, and utterly incapable and unworthy of the position continue to behave as apologists, desperately searching for even modest justifications and excuses for the large cadre of Trump enablers who could easily have done more to stop or at least ameliorate not merely the worst but nearly all his ill-conceived, unconsidered impulses.

Trump doesn’t know that…

The only way in which Liberals are mourning Bolton’s passing is the sinking feeling we get (informed by experience) that this means the Trump will find someone even worse.

A fair correction.

Somehow, someone seems to have been convincing Trump to not get too insane with his National Security Advisors. So, I amend the statement to match whatever path it is that has allowed us to avoid NSA Alex Jones, to date.

There is the other argument, that everyone should let Trump torpedo himself and his administration with bad choices.

Possibly, that could be or have been the right answer, I have genuinely no way of knowing, but there are significant risks with it:

  1. The nuclear codes.
  2. How badly does he fuck over the nation while destroying himself?
  3. Does the right realize that he’s fucking over the nation and being horrible? If the goal is to get him into impeachment territory, if that doesn’t happen because his followers like what he’s doing then all we’ve accomplished is to fuck over the country and make his base love him more.
  4. Minus somewhat moral and patriotic people in the government, can we trust that Trump won’t do something more extreme like trying to claim power over Congress?

ade me think of this.

He hardly needs to claim it - the Senate is still supine before him, although the Democratic House is at least doing some investigating.

You mean constant pressing to go to war with everyone.

ROFL

Such a thing wouldn’t surprise me one bit, at this point.

And ditto ditto ditto.
