I just finished this one. It presents a chilling tale.
Is this an aberration, or do people get convicted on flimsy evidence all of the time?
Also, if what Grisham says is true, Bill Peterson should be in jail. Anymore thoughts from readers of this book?
It’s been a while since I read it, but I was just dumbfounded by the incompetence, irresponsibility, and disregard for law displayed by the police, lawyers, and judges in this situation. I know there are many other stories of people who are apparently wrongfully convicted and jailed, but to read all the backstory and details on this one left me feeling really troubled about how just a few people can have such power over another person’s life.
