I was very impressed. Many comedians come away from just talking rather badly (see Robin Williams). He did not. He expressed himself well and showed a rational grasp of reality (whatever that is). He also showed a nice respect for his predessors in the profession.
He also appeared on Noggin recently. He played Groundhog News Network reporter Brunk Stinegrouber in “Groundhog Day.” It was fun. My girls said, “Mommy! Isn’t that the guy from your show?”
Not impressed enough to spell Jon correctly though. :smack:
Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.
Dah, sorry, thanks for the correction. I deserved it.
The guy’s brilliant, articulate, and his comedy show is the only show on TV where you can see great interviews with serious authors (and while sometimes you can tell Stewart has definitely read the book, you never come away thinking he hasn’t even cracked the cover [ala Larry King]). No surprise he presented himself well- he’s this generations Thomas Nast mixed with Johnny Carson. When I see him in reruns of The Nanny and other sitcoms I wonder how he was able to stand it all those years when he was making his bones.
He is so totally going to be at the grooms’ table at my wedding to Anderson Cooper. That’s not even negotiable.
Mmm - two of my celebrity crushes at the same time. I like my men brainy and gorgeous, like these two appear to be.
Speaking of Larry King’s interview skills, it is a crime whenever he lands a decent interview subject, and then asks them questions like, “So, where do you get your ideas?” I hate his interviews - he’s just a buffoon. Jon has been accused (more than once) of softballing questions to guests, but he never asks the trite, obvious, stupid questions.
Here I was all ready to say that Hal Jordan will always be THE Green Lantern, too.
