John T. Reed real estate analysis. Any good?

His website.
Okay, so for those of you experts or informed novices in real estate, how good is what this guy preaches?
A lot of reviews I have read say this guy is pretty solid. However, I’ve also read a lot of stuff that takes aim at his personal attacks on other real estate gurus. For a John Reed analysis of other RE guru’s, go here.
I understand that this guy has seriously stuck some knives in other guru’s (he’s actually getting sued by one AFAIK as we speak), and it’s pissed a lot of people off. In his defence he and others have commented that a lot of guru’s have given false and patently absurd advice - or dangerous ideas.

His detractors say that he hasn’t done this out of Christian Love and goodwill - he’s basically doing it to promote himself.
Especially pronounced are his attacks on Robert T. Kiyosaki. This dudes really taken it up the duff for what he wrote in his book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
I found a lot of J. Reed’s stuff very convincing (when reviewing RD,PD), however there seemed to be a huge element of personal vitriol in how he attacked Kiyosaki.

This brought down his credibility IMO, becoz it made him look like an immature adult who basically couldn’t handle someone else’s success and so seeks to somehow denigrate his personal life. It was not appealing at all.

I didn’t have a problem when we were dealing with facts (did RK attend a military academy? How were his grades? What/type property he owns etc.) but when it got to the level of “your dad was better than mine but my wife and life is still better than yours”, it kind of put a downer on being analytical.

But maybe I’m too much of a stickler for the factual details. What do you guys think? Is John Reed worth his acclaimed merit? Advantages/disadvantages of his advice? And do you think he’s too critical of other guru’s? Why does he go at it with such fervour, even getting personal?

OK, I have zero real estate knowledge to be able to critique the content of Reed or the persons he calls scam artists. However…

IMHO, there is more than a little ego involved in writing How To Get Rich books in general. Most people would quietly make their millions and keep their methods to themselves. The LOOK AT ME tone of all of Reed’s stuff makes me think of terms like “gradious” and “narcissist” and I get the impression that Reed can’t stand the thought of anyone else getting any credit. He doesn’t list Thomas Lucier (http://www.thomaslucier.com) on the comparison list you linked.

I learned the name because one of Lucier’s books was reviewed in the real estate section of my local paper. The book - The Pre-foreclosure Property Investor’s Kit - was given 12 stars out of 10. From what I’ve seen of it and other things done by Lucier, they are very good and give an honest assessment of what one can and cannot do in real estate. He also says there are a lot of get-rich-quick scam artists out there, although he doesn’t list them by name. I wonder if Reed really wasn’t aware of him, or that he didn’t want to list anyone who was better than he was.

John Ross has nothing but praise for him.

I’ll see if I can e-mail him to get him to acknowledge this dude T.Lucier.
