Do you like National Hockey League head coach John Tortorella? He is very volatile in his temperament and personality and he yells at reporters and journalists. What do you think of him?
He’s a horse’s ass.
Not my favorite coach, but overall don’t really mind him. Players seem to like him.
Some do, some don’t. Just like he has players he likes and players he doesn’t. Torts comes across as a bit of pompous ass at times but he can also be pretty funny.
I’m not that familiar with his work, but I thought he was great as ‘Jesus’ in The Big Lebowski.
He’s mellowed quite a bit in the past couple of years, at least as his public/media persona goes. And I don’t see ex-Blue Jackets ripping the crap out of him, so his players mostly don’t seem to hate him.* More importantly, he’s gotten teams without a lot of top-grade talent to the playoffs on a consistent basis, so he’s evidently a pretty good coach.
Which reminds me, Tortorella gets bonus points for pissing off annoying media types, cranky Penguins and Capitals fans etc.
*there are exceptions like Matt Calvert, who didn’t appreciate Tortorella’s description of his regular season play as being “up and down, like a toilet seat.”
Every time I hear the name John Tortorella, I think of his 2014 shoving match outside the Calgary Flames’ locker room in Vancouver. I thought that was funny and stupid at the same time.
I think he’s pretty much a jerk.
He does a great job with rescue dogs. The Blue Jackets radio crew have mentioned he will meet with potential adopters at his home.
He can be jerky when he wants to be, he helps animals and children from harm.
He’s an old-school, hard-nosed, lunchpail Joe type of coach. Who can be crazy.
