Johnny Cochran Died

Only in the defenses imagination? Hard to tell since Furman never confessed to tampering with evidence. Well, [/url=“http://web.mit.edu/dryfoo/www/Info/fuhrman.html”]not in the OJ case in particular, anyway.

Ayup, ole Cochran should have ignored all that. Because his client was guilty-- no need to actually defend him or anything.

Woah! Half my post is missing. Not gonna do all that searching again until I get home. Because I should be working.

Oh wait, maybe I should continue to do a poor job, sos I won’t be known as Satan’s Tampon when I’m dead.

There weren’t domestic abuse laws on the books prior to these killings? I realize what forum we’re in, but cite?

I don’t think the circus that was the OJ trial gave anything approaching a true picture of the criminal or civil justice systems.

Beginning to get really angry about this. Better take it to the Pit.

The trial was a scene
Now you’re Soylent Green

There were, but if you’ll recall, during the testimony, it was revealed that the present laws were ineffective. In one instance, the cops who arrived in response to Nicole’s frantic call for help spent more time getting OJ’s autograph than they did investigating what was going on. Still, here’s a listing of domestic abuse laws introduced in California in response to the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.

Maybe not, but it certainly was more accurate than all the various cop shows which had been the general public’s sole window on that world.

If he looks too calm,
you must embalm.

If he has no vital signs then it’s burying time.

If the heart does not pound you must put him in the ground.

If his lungs do not breath, this world he must leave.

If his body’s getting colder, he’ll not be getting any older.

When the tumor gets too big, his grave you must dig.

If he’s as cold as the room, you must prepare the tomb.

That strikes me less as a failure of the law than a failure of the officers.

How would any of those proposed laws have helped Nicole Brown?

That’s as may be, the fact that Nicole suffered 17 years of abuse at the hands of OJ, called the cops on numerous occassions, yet she still died at the hands of OJ speaks volumes about the state of both the laws and enforcement.

Well, given that Nicole on at least one occassion I’d say that this law

Would have provided some help for her.
