For those unfamiliar with Mr. Burge, he was in charge of Chicago’s Area 2 police in the early to mid 1980s that routinely engaged in torturing criminal suspects, torture that included electrocuting genitals. He seemingly got off scot-free and had been enjoying retirement in Florida.

About damn time.

I’m less impressed with Mayor Daley’s immediate about-face on any responsibility for what happened (ah, what convenient timing) but this is a good start.

I’m not surprised. Since the feds are the ones moving forward with this, there’s no reason for him to try and cover Burge’s ass anymore.
