By your interpretation of what that means, that’s what every single person on this board does with their inflammatory views. Proper rhetoric, when designed not to insult people, often needs to be understated.
If being someone you are not includes moderating your speech in order to better convince others, then no one on the Dope is who they really are. It’s just a necessary part of interacting with others.

Lots of people have happily and repeatedly claimed that blacks are less intelligent than whites due to genetic.
Sadly enough, this board has become a have for scientific racists.
In fact, I’m fairly certain we have far more scientific racists on this board than we have black posters.
Similarly, lots of people on this board have insisted that Muslims are terrorists.
As to why promoting hate speech against Muslims and promoting racism against blacks isn’t considered “being a jerk” well, you’ll have to ask them.

Really? I can think of five scientific racists, and I’m pretty sure we have more than five black posters (I’m less aware of who they are, since I’m more likely to remember that someone has pissed me off than that they’re black).
Although by responding to this, I am contributing to an unnecessary sidetrack, for which I apologize in advance, Ibn Warraq’s primary point is that they exist here.
I would be willing to discuss this further in a different thread, not that we need yet another ponderous thread on race, the obsession for which on these boards has become quite tiresome.
