Gee, Joss, did the Zombie Redneck Torture Family have to be named…the Buckners?

Grr. Aargh.

Admit it, when they used your name it gave you a husband’s bulge.
I’ve seen it twice now and those bits you quoted had me laughing and wanting to see the movie again! I was happy to find out that the movie held up on 2nd viewing. There’s so much going on it’s impossible to catch everything even on multiple viewings. The funny parts are even funnier. The scary parts aren’t quite so scary but still effective. Everything still works. This movie is going to be like an old nostalgic friend.
I got inspired to re-watch Hellraiser. Man does that movie need to be remade. “We have such sights to show you…” I’d forgotten how little the cenobites are in the original, which, I must admit, is pretty fucking cheesy.
Finally got around to seeing it, and have a question: What was the reason for the two-way mirror between the cabin bedrooms? (To say nothing of the creepy picture hiding it)
And the lamprey-faced ballerina moppet skivved me the most, for some reason.
I don’t think the mirror was ever explained. Lamprey ballerina was pretty cool.
It was meant to be discovered, in order to increase their paranoia. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
I think it would’ve come into play better if they summoned the vampire instead of the Buckners.
Yep, it was just some creepy thing that could be somehow fit into the story whatever evil creature is summoned. I bet if they spent more time exploring the cabin they could find more things.
I thought it was to tempt the guy to spy on the girl. Evil actions to appease the Old Ones, much like the porn shoot out in the woods.
The sequels are getting pretty bad (yeah, they still make them hahaha).
There was talk of a remake (Clive Barker even wrote some potential material), but it hasn’t fully been put into action yet. I would like a new take on pinhead though, thought that the sawblade cenobite from CitW was really cool and gave me hope for something new.
The mirror wasn’t meant to be discovered, everything held potential to add to the premise. If it was meant to be discovered, the frame would have been crooked. As a standalone painting, it wasn’t enough to force someone to unhinge it as shown by the virgin putting the blanket over it.
I wish they had given more tidbits and easter eggs (I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a ton as DVD extra come the release) that had potential. Like if the deer head flickered in the background, or if the fridge door started randomly opening after it was too late for them to notice it anyway.
I just watched this on iTunes; my wife and I called it the Tooth Fairy.
The Blu-Ray is pretty cool. The special features show some of the monters that were either only glimpsed in the background of the shifting cube scene or would up on the cutting room floor. One of which was 3 KKK members (including a grand wizard).
