Regarding Marilyn Monroe - she was in Playboy as a centerfold…
For the record, I did see Spalding Gray fuck a chicken in The Farmer’s Daughters, a 1976 soft-core offering.
This is hardly news.
Was he inspired by the sex scene in “Pink Flamingos”?
Compared to today, 50s Playboy was hardly nudes.
Kubrick and writer Terry Southern watch a porn together during the 1960s. Kubrick says somebody should do a Hollywood treatment. Terry Southern writes a book which Kubrick thinks is hilarious. But really the auteur isn’t that interested. Novel was published in 1970 and is currently available at at your friendly online book marketplace.
Interview with the late Terry Southern:
[INDENT]Around 1974-75, John Calley, who was then president of Warner Brothers, decided to make a film of Blue Movie. A number of other people wanted to do it, but always with the idea of compromising the work by having simulated sex. Calley, however, was convinced as was I, that the first production of a full- on-erection-and-penetration movie using big name stars, a talented director and made under studio conditions would be a blockbuster of Gone With The Wind proportions. "Calley was living with Julie Andrews at the time, and he and Mike Nichols, who had been signed to direct, were able to persuade her (for love, art and a lot of money) to play Angela Sterling, the heroine of the story. A 14 million dollar budget, quite adequate for the time, had been secured and everything was ready. Ringo Starr had held an option on the book, but was quite ready to step aside now that there was an actual production ready to roll… He just wanted to see the book made into a movie. Enter the villain of the piece: Ringo’s lawyer…

Southern even completed a script, but the deal fell through. So yeah, Julie Andrews was seriously considering the role if you believe Southern. I’m guessing the film would have been epic but not quite in the way that Southern or Andrews envisioned.
So, pretty much the antithesis of zombie boobies, is what you’re saying.
Practically perfect in every way, according to the tape used to measure them.
zombie or no
the highlight of his acting is the rapid switching and unusual positions with multiple partners.

In post #26, there is a quotation from an interview with Terry Southern saying, “Calley was living with Julie Andrews at the time [1974 or 1975] . . .” Say what? Andrews was married to Blake Edwards at that point. They adopted two daughters during those two years. John Calley was married to Olga Schoberová at the time. He lived in California. Andrews and Edwards mostly lived in Switzerland, although they also had homes in New York and California.
Terry Southern’s memory is messed up here, I’m pretty sure. His novel Blue Movie was published in 1970. It’s possible that he almost persuaded some Hollywood people to make a movie of it in 1974 or 1975. It’s possible that Julie Andrews and John Calley were a couple in 1965 or so. This would be toward the end of her marriage to her first husband Tony Walton, although they didn’t divorce until 1967. She wasn’t involved with him in 1974 or 1975 though. He’s apparently confusing the events of Andrews being involved with Calley and Calley almost deciding to make a movie of Blue Movie which apparently happened a decade apart.
NSFW boob shot alleged to be JA.
Never know on the internet, could be a body double, a photoshop or the real thing.
That’s her for sure in the above mentioned movie S.O.B. Body doubles don’t show their face dude.
This annoys me because I’ve seen the same claim elsewhere, and having seen it the WORST you could say about him is that he is on the higher side of average.
Unless you judge him by porn which uses all kinds of tricks to make you think 12 inches is the average dick size.
Terry Southern’s novel Blue Movie climaxes, in the literary sense, with the Southern, i.e., native of the southern portion of then heavily racist America, lead actress committing suicide because the director (based on Stanley Kubrick) somehow managed to trick her during the supposedly fake interracial sex scene by having the black actor really place his penis inside her vagina.
I guarantee that scene would never have made it to film. The book was not filmable, period, even in the bowdlerized way that The Magic Christian and Candy were. Southern was living in an alcoholic haze of his own making by the 1970s. Nothing he says from that period should in any way be confused with reality.
That said, he was a brilliant satiric writer of the blackest humor until he was crushed by the world.
Totally. They were awesome.
Just FTR, Southern was discussing the 1970s but the interview was conducted in 1996.
FWIW, Wendell Wagner’s upthread assertions cross check with Wikipedia. Southern’s claims in post 26 are FUBAR.
Trick? Don’t you mean rape? If they were doing a fake sex scene, and the director and only one of the actor turned it into a real sex scene without permission, isn’t that rape?
Didn’t Chloë Sevigny do a real sex scene in one indie film or am I remembering it wrong. It a file that Roger Ebert trashed.
Ebert trashed the version shown at Cannes but admitted the final edited cut that was ultimately released was better and gave that version a decent three stars. We have that on DVD, the edited version, and yes, it’s okay. (And has the Chloe Sevigny scene. It’s definitely her, no body double.)
