July 2010 Weight Loss Thread

Starting weight: 166.4
Current weight: 164.1
Goal weight: 139

Thanks for the chuckle. The upside is that I can run circles around my man while we’re doing C25K!

As of last night, I’ve lost 2 lbs. (hubby gained a lb.!) While reviewing my WiiFit history, I see that when we got the Wii at Christmas, I weighed 172 and my weight actually went up after the few days I used it. I think I topped out around 175 before I quit altogether. Fast forward to now, my first weigh-in last Sunday put me at 166.4. That was the day we started C25K and our Wii workouts. The next day I started attack phase of Dukan diet, which I’ve continued religiously to now. Today, I’m transitioning to phase II and will be introducing veggies back into my diet (to be continued every other day until I hit my goal weight of 139. I’m looking forward to having a salad for lunch and huge plate of broccoli for dinner with my requisite protein! I’m not starving at all even though I’d say I’ve averaged around 900-1000 cals/day. I still feel great! I finally pooped today (not much though), so that concern is alleviated.

Last night, we finished week 1 of C25K, but hubby wants to repeat W1. I’m okay with that. He kept up, but it appeared to be harder for him than me.

On Wii front, I can still get through 30 mins of yoga and strength exercises but I’m still pretty shaky and my quads are screaming mad! I can’t say it’s getting an easier though. I did take a rest on Wed because I was so sore I couldn’t get through some of the exercises and back on it yesterday. I think I’m going to count Saturday as an official day of rest as well, but we’ll probably end up doing something active anyway, maybe a hike or something.

I’m a little chagrined about the slow weight loss, but not discouraged. I know I’m getting stronger and I feel awesome that I can live without bread, potatoes, rice, cereal and sweets. I didn’t think I had it in me to go even this long, frankly. I had a taste of potato chip last night and it didn’t taste good at all. I do miss veggies and my beloved bananas though. Oh, and I’m taking a multi to make up for lost nutrients. Not a big deal as my historical deficiencies have been in vitamin D and iron, which my current diet has in spades!

You’re at 157 and wearing a size 10!? Oh, I am so jealous! I just hit 149 this morning and I’m still solidly in a size 12, and can wear my 14s without looking like they’re too big. My big goal is to get back to a size 10, and I’m a good 15 pounds away from that!

Damn child-bearing hips…

Blame/credit genetics. I seem to have narrow hips with decently-muscled thighs and calves, like most of my mom’s side. Size 12s are loose on me, and 14s usually fall right off.

I’d forgotten how much work stress turns me into an emotional eater. At least I know enough to bring healthy snacks to work these days. And go for a run if it gets too bad.

Starting weight, June 2009: 398 pounds
Current weight: 307 pounds
Net loss: 91 pounds
Goal: when it feels right

Had to give up my gym membership because I couldn’t afford it any more. But I was losing weight without it before, and I know what to do to keep going. And now we have a puppy, which is added incentive to take more walks.

BTW, this is/was Juliana.

I KNEW IT! Well, I didn’t know it was you; I thought you were someone who had been around a while.

91 pounds - wow! That’s really something.

I finally lost a pound this week. I bet it’s because of the run I did last night. I was just going to do 3 miles but there was some sort of race going on when I got there and it was a nice night so I kept going for another 1.5 miles. I got curious about what was going on and it turned out the race was a 24 hour ultra run! So those people are still running now and will be until 7pm today!! They also had a marathon and a 12 hour run.

I am sooo close to not being technically overweight according to BMI.
