Had the MRI on my knee yesterday after work. The nice intern padded the contraption with pillows on either side of my knee after I told him three times that I needed padding to prop up my knee or else it’ll go numb along with my calf. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was too intent on making sure he was closing the “cage” around knee correctly. Sure enough, in the middle of the second test, my knee went numb and my entire leg started cramping. They stopped the test, repadded me, started again, I went numb again, etc. Repeat three times.
Needless to say I could barely walk for the rest of the day. I woke up a half hour ago because it’s throbbing. Somebody shoot me.
Another knee problem here, kiz. Really banged my good knee while sailing. Haven’t been able to fully bend it since or sleep through the night because it hurts in every position, even while taking opiates and NSAIDS and doing ice and compression and so on. And it is randomly locking and feeling like it’s going to give out.
Can my GP see me? No, she’s booked. So are all of the other internal med docs.
Can my ortho guy see me? Not until July 21st.
So basically, I can go to the walk-in clinic, which is pointless since they’ll tell me to take NSAIDs and ice it, or I can just wait and complain.
I’m pretty sure that this will end with another arthroscopic surgery, as the symptoms are the same as the ones that kicked off the saga of the bad knee. Well, I suppose what really kicked off the bad knee saga was the perfect storm of genetics, ballet and modern dance classes, and running.
Fortunately, it’s a long weekend for me, so I’ll spend the next few days drinking a bit and floating in the pool and won’t care that my knee hurts.
Just discovered due to a recent change in policy that is buried in sub-clauses and apparently contradictory at first glance, I cannot defer my University fees like everyone else and have to pay them upfront. $3k per semester.
I start on Monday. It’s rather short notice.
(I have until end of August to pay, but only found out about this today)
New employee who stated yesterday that her previous job laid off people all the time on 6/30 the past 4 years but complains that our agency pays her for 2 less hours than where she got laid off from:smack:
I had to tell that fool in a nice way that there are no layoffs at this place are rare and we get annual cola raises in addition to performance based raises. Some people are just too stupid.
I’m so sorry for those of you in pain. It suddenly makes my mini-rant even smaller than mini.
Monday is our anniversary. I picked that day so we could have a long weekend and pretend that the fireworks were for us.
Due to what seems to be worker error, equipment went all crazy and people were hurt close to the Canada border. I’m sorry for the people who were hurt. I haz a sad face that I just took my BB to the airport so he could fly up there and do damage control. There won’t be fireworks in our bedroom on Monday
The party will still happen, its too late to uninvite 200 people. As usual, we will be serving racist food to some of our black guests. (We fired a catering service when the owner refused to serve watermelon, fried chicken and ribs to a gathering that included blacks). The white folks will be offered the same menu, as well as the Asians. Everyone will eat racist food and be happy with it.
(There will be many other things on the menu, I just mentioned those things because I’m still ticked about the catering service owner. Gosh, that’s been a long time, I probably need to get over it.)
I do hope that when the caterer asked if you wanted to serve watermelon and fried chicken to black folk you replied “Yowsuh, massa! Iffen you don’ pro-vidicate it, we gwine raid ol’ Missa Johnson’s melon patch, an’ fill a gunny sack wid chickens, too! Day-um, dat be sum fahhhhn eatin’!”
Stupid neighbors apparently can’t read a calendar, and are already playing with fireworks. The cat is not pleased by the noise, some of the damn things are so loud we’re now playing “was that a gunshot?” (not impossible in this neighborhood), and I’m a bit worried about potential for the morons (at least some of whom are probably alcohol-fueled) setting something on fire.
It’s supposed to start raining here this afternoon and rain pretty much through Tuesday. I’m really not sorry, maybe it will keep it from sounding like a war zone around here and my poor cat can come out from under the bed. I need to run the vacuum but he’s been traumatized enough already.
Also… dammit, knees are not supposed to bend that way! I hyperextended my already jacked-up knee last night and it hurts like a bitch today.
Did that caterer not realize that it’s *required * by every social more to have watermelon at a summer party in the southern U.S.? I don’t like melons of any kind, but if I had a summer party there would be watermelon provided for those who partake.
They’re illegal in NC as well. However, I live thirty minutes from the SC border where they are legal, so everyone has them and has been setting them off for the last few days.
I’m in Sacramento, California, and I think we’re still technically in a drought. I’d heard occasional small fireworks over the last few days, but last night was getting pretty bad. Monday is gonna suck on that front.
I have to call for my results after Wednesday Finally gave in after I posted this morning and took 4 Aleve or else there was no way I’d be able to stand at work
To top it off my husband laid off without warning on Friday. I’m on his health insurance :headdesk:
Alcohol is good. I know this first hand, LOL.
So, when you had the arthroscopic surgery before, what did they say you had? They were talking knee replacement with me before all this happened. The knee in question is three-quarters bone against bone. Maybe I inadvertently shredded what remains of my meniscus?
