Just because it looks easy doesn't mean it is

I absolutely hate, hate, hate the heated waxing kits! I lost a bit of skin along with my pride the first few times I tried those out.

Now I swear by the no-heat sticky gel type waxes like Nads. I’ve got a generic brand of the same stuff, works wonders. Doesn’t always get things in the first go-round, but the great thing is you can just reapply the same strip, rub it down again and it will usually pick it up on the second pass. It spreads out very smooth and if you get some in the wrong spot it wipes away quite easily with just warm water.

Ah, yes, here we go.

Question from a guy (who is so glad he’s never needed to find this out first-hand):

What’s “sugaring”?

That’s it. I’m waxing my balls. That’s all there is to it. Will report later.

It’s a method of hair removal using a sticky solution made of sugar instead of wax. One applies the sugar solution onto one’s hairy areas, applies a muslin strip over the mess, smooths down the muslin in the direction of hair growth, then rips the muslin off against the growth. Sugar solutions are easier to clean up (my daughter’s preferred brand cleans up with just warm water) and do not need to be heated, so there’s no danger of burning the skin, and there’s no problem of adjusting the wax temperature. Every “cold wax” kit I’ve ever seen is actually a sugaring kit.
