I think the fire’s super heated air would get the popcorn popping. The warning pop would might be too late to save anybody’s life, but I could easily see the fireman finding this thing with popped corn after a fire.

I’m not sure what would happen if the fire was directly on top of the jiffy pan. It probably would just burn before popping.
