Just partnered!

Congratulations!

As someone who has followed your threads over the years I must say this is wonderful news and I am so glad you two found joy together. And I love the twist!

Will you be presenting yourselves as “partners”? You’ll then have to explain what that means a decent percentage of the time. Curious, because my gf and I have recently started introducing ourselves as husband/wife just to make shit simpler.

And, still another congrats and wishes for love and happiness, Al Green style.

I assume we will. It’d be a fun excuse to explain what we just did. And if we get engaged in, say, October I don’t think we’ll have to go through that spiel too many times.

Congratulations, sir! May the two of you enjoy many bannings together.

Congratulations!

Are we allowed to toss rice or not? I’m not up to date on partnering customs…

At least in the US, we toss couscous upon those newly partnered. I assumed Europeans behave similarly.

May you both be happy together for a long, long time.

We don’t even have continent-wide wedding traditions, nor are partnerships available everywhere, and in Spain couscous is a recent discovery outside the African Cities of Ceuta and Melilla. Most Spaniards are pretty stunned to discover that its main ingredient is what we’re used to calling sopa maravilla or puntitos (“little dots”); just last year one of my coworkers was saying how could anybody make such a fuss about couscous being good when she’d cooked it with nothing at all but water (not even salt!) and discovered it “boring”, it took over half an hour to get her to understand that that’s not how it works any more than it is how spaghetti works.

In our case, if we tossed something it would be rice or lentils, same as for a wedding.

Awesome dude! I just opened a joint bank account with my fiance. Shit is scary, it’s like being a real adult and everything.

By the way, my workplace does offer health insurance coverage to domestic partners, but they won’t pay the employer’s portion for that person like they would an actual spouse (making it unaffordable). Since gay marriage is legal in New York, it seems like they’re kinda pushing people in THAT direction. But it still seems a bit discriminatory.

In Texas, we use chicharones!

Congratulations, Marley!

Wait. I don’t get it. You’re not gay??

Yay Marley!! That is so awesome for you guys! Congratulations!!
