Just Stupid People Things

… why is that stupid?

ETA - the woman with the fridge and the food.

Wasn’t daylight savings time, that extra hour of sunlight makes all the difference.

Because, since the power outage was due to ice storms, she could just temporarily put her food outside.

Speaking of daylight savings, a few years ago in Chicago we had record-breaking heat in March – I am talking about a dozen days in the 80s. One woman on the news attributed this to the fact that Daylight Savings had started and that we were now getting an hour more of sunshine each day.

Stupid People Shouldn’t Breed

My sister linked to the solar farm thing on her Facebook page. I thought it was a spoof article.

My daughter is a science teacher and the science team leader at a school in Orlando. She had one teacher quit because teaching geology ran counter to her fundy beliefs. Right now she’s got a teacher who’s an anti-vaxxer and who insists global warming is a government plot of some sort.

Yeah, they’re out there and they’re molding our next generation.

Another bit of Florida stupidity from some years back. We lived in Jacksonville and it was a particularly hot summer. Local news was interviewing people who worked outside to share their misery. One guy was a roofer who, in all seriousness, said his job was especially bad because he was closer to the sun than the rest of us.

OK, technically true, but I’m pretty sure the 93 million miles minus 20 feet really isn’t significantly closer.

There are a whole lot of problems with that solution.

Well sure, but food going bad probably isn’t one of them.

I remember that! I also remember LMAO at the quote.

That is actually kind of stupid. It looks a lot more like genuine stupidity is not really genetic. If you want to eradicate stupidity, you should advocate against stupid people being allowed to raise children, because that is where teh stooped develops.

I saw it yesterday in a UK paper and was wondering the same thing.

Yep. Usually you only worry about your food going bad when you have a blackout in the summer. All she really needed to do was open the fridge door. In a blackout during a bad winter, the entire house will be freezing (slightly hyperbolic) in no time.

No need to open the door. If the kitchen is actually colder than the inside of the fridge, the fridge won’t warm up. In the mean time, limit the amount you open and close the fridge.

So wait. So your solution is to allow stupid people to breed but then we will take their children from them and have them raised by non stupid people?

Well the goal is to not let your house get that cold! You use the fireplace or whatever.

Yeah, my way heads them off at the pass.

In winter power outages we move everything into big boat coolers which go outside.

Growing up on a farmhouse in Western NY we didn’t have central heat – just a fireplace in the middle of the house. The kitchen was far away from the center of the house, and was also a later addition that had a crawlspace underneath. So during really cold weather our milk would freeze in the fridge despite the fact we were not quite freezing in the rest of the house.
