Just to redeem myself..

I see my ‘Shakespeare quoted in modern media’ thread has been closed down and I have now been accused of cheating on my homework…

Just allow me to clarify one thing:
This is not a piece of homework. I do not HAVE to do it. It was suggested by a teacher, yes, but it’s a game - as in fun and I am not getting a grade for it!
I have spent some time doing it myself ALREADY (hence the 50), and there are no restrictions as to how I get the information, so this is not cheating the game either.

I will not waste your time providing the 50 in this thread, but they exist and if anybody cares THAT BADLY I can email to them the .doc of the ones I’ve already found. Suffice to say that there are 11 in Doctor Who, 4 in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and 10 Thing I Hate About You, 5 from Carry On’s and 3 from Kiss Me Kate; and my sources range from The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) to a Marshall Law TV advertisement (two days ago!)

Also this question does have an ANSWER (just a lot of them), and I fail to see which board suits it better. It’s not an opinion, I’m asking, not sharing and there’s no flaming involved.

Please don’t flame me!
And if anybody else does have a quote, please do tell!

OK. I think this is a great board, & the more the better. I think this thread will get moved to another spot. Maybe MS… It took me a while to figure the categories, and I’m still learning the rules.

I don’t think there was a cheating accusation. It was just viewed by some as doing the leg work. Anyway, the topic you posed is really interesting.

On NPR’s Car Talk show, the closing credits are littered with joke names such as Donatella Nobody. Sometimes their financial counselor is Nora Lenderbee, clearly a reference to Polonius’s advice, “Neither a borrower nor a lender be, and to thine own self be true.”

I’ve re-opened Ssarl the happy Martian’s other thread (Shakespeare quoted in modern media…). So I’ll just close this one.
