K-19 uniform mistake

Possible read between the lines type spoilers
I went to see K-19 today, and I enjoyed it, but I found a Hollywood blunder. When Harrison Ford’s character is first introduced, and throughout the whole movie, his rank is depicted by 2 medium sized stars on his shoulderboards. However, during the scene after he walks through the train station, and is first receiving command of K-19, his rank shows 3 stars (like he has at the very end of the movie) on his shoulderboards…obviously a different rank, and not the one he has until later, when he is presumably promoted. Did anyone else notice this mistake?

After perusing the web, and seeing the names for Soviet officer rank, I see that his character was a “Captain 2nd Class” for 99% of the movie, and after retirement was “Captain 1st Class.” What I’m saying is that he is wearing the Captain 1st Class rank when he is given command of K-19, even though he is wearing the 2nd class rank before and after this scene.
