K-Mart or Walmart?

Costco.

** Zenster, ** I don’t suppose you have a cite for the K Mart remark do you?? It doesn’t make sense that the company is pro-abortion when they just went through a major wrangle over the pornography they were supposedly [I didn’t see it, just heard about it.] selling at their bookstore chain, Waldens. They went head to head with Wildmon’s group and didn’t back down, they said they had a right to sell whatever they chose, and it wasn’t deemed ‘obscene’.

Doesn’t sound like the same company to me.

Oh, ** aha, ** Wal Mart, especially the SuperCenters, I love grocery shopping someplace I can get my oil changed and my son find his Star War toys, all at the * same time! *

Every pair I have purchased there make my feet bleedlike crazy.
Both stores have the same basic prices here; but I believe that the quality of clothing at K-mart is slighty better.

Usually I go to Wal-Mart. If I can’t find what I want there, then usually I’ll hit K-Mart because they will have it. I bought a compact stereo system at Wal-Mart and ended up having to take it back for another one three times before I got one that worked. I figure that’s more the manufacturer than the store.

I usually shop at Target, with K-Mart as a backup. Of the three stores, only Target (around here, at least) seems to have those hand-baskets anymore. I rarely do enough shopping at any one of those stores to require a cart, so I’d rather go where they have the baskets.

But last week, I decided to give Wal-Mart another chance. I hadn’t shopped there in 4 years, because, the last time I was there, the checkout girl was rude to my mother. Hell with that noise.

So, I go in, peruse the electronics section, pick up a few DVDs, and go to get some eyedrops (laser surgery, don’tcha know). I’m accosted at the exit of the electronics department by a clerk, who said, “I have to ask you to pay for those here.” “Why? I have more shopping to do.” “Those are some of our most frequently shoplifted items.”

Oh, so you’re implicitly accusing me of being a shoplifter. In addition, she told me a sentence or two later, “It’s for your protection.” Bullshit, Matilda the Hun, when I want or need your ‘protection’ I’ll ask for it.

So, I guess I won’t bother shopping there again for a few more years. Shame that Wal-Mart doesn’t have a minimum civility requirement to be hired.

Does anyone find walmarts policy of keeping their “valuable” Stetson and Lady Stetson and other cheap assed colognes under lock and key? You have to get an “associate” to open the glass cage to get at them and then you can’t smell them before you buy them. Who would want to anyway.

If they can’t police shop lifters any better than that then don’t carry the stuff as merchandise.

Yep Kmart does have a “tiny bit” better clothes than walmart but that ain’t saying alot. I did get a white trash feeling today in Kmart that I don’t get in Walmart. Maybe because the store looked like a bad yard sale in progress.

I don’t shop at either K-mart or Target… it has something to do with that there IS no K-Mart or Target around here… I shop at Walmart sometimes but not a lot (at least since I moved to Edmonton)

I did get a few things at K-Mart when they were going out of business though and they are okay. And the stuff I got from Walmart is good too. shrugs Frankly I don’t have a problem with them.

My experience with the Big K near me is exactly the opposite. The damn place can be nearly empty, and it will still take a long time to get through the checkout line.

Wal-mart has always been speedier, with better inventory, and the customer service is much better.

When I was at camp there was a huge 24 hour Walmart superstore right near us. And that was the only thing near us. So us staff people would go out at 1 AM abd all of us would be in Walmart. It’s a great place, has everything. But at home I like Target. When I bought a CD at Kmart the whole damn thing was edited. And badly. At least Target sells CD’s the way they should be.

I prefer Tartget also, but the closest thing to my house is Kmart [renamed schmomart by me and my friends], so I am forced to shop there occasionally b/c my mom doesn’t want to spend the extra 5 minutes driving to a better store.

Yeah, and Walmart is Wally World. Where I can make “interesting” purchases.

Roflmao. Jessica, sheeesh, thank you for making me laugh/cough right now.

Well, according to these and many other websites, it would appear that K-Mart is not all that vocal on the anti-choice side of abortion:

here
here
and here
All the links are about the same event but different sites. I hardly think the company would have gone through all this trouble if they were truly anti-choice at heart.

KMart because it’s down the street and sells cat food for 29 cents that retails at Furrs for 49.
But everybody who enjoys Target please continue to do so. I have stock in that company.

this is from Domino’s FAQ:

There’s a link to the whole thing. If I recall right, the former owner was Catholic, and did support Right To Life type stuff, but the company he founded didn’t and doesn’t.

now, as for the K Mart thing… If you can prove to me that the CEO has personally directed every pharmacist to not dispense those types of drugs, I’ll believe it. I read the link, and saw that only one pharmacist didn’t, according to her beliefs. Which she is entitled to. She got fired, and the whole lawsuit bullshit ensued, as per regulations.
oh… where do I shop? Seeing as how we have 5 Super Wal Marts, one Target, and a Super K mart that’s closing… Target.

The town I live in has only a Super Wal-Mart. I shop there. The town I work in has 3 Wal-Marts, 2 K-Marts, and 1/2 Target (under construction.) As much as I like Target, it is WAY out of my way to go to where they are building it, so I will continue to patronize Wal-Mart. I like them anyway. Down here, they are cheap, easy, friendly, and if you shop at the right times, the checkouts are not too bad.

Is there a difference between a K-Mart that’s just called a “K-Mart,” a K-Mart that’s called a “Big K-Mart,” and a K-Mart that’s called a “Super K-Mart”?

K-Mart = normal store.
Big K Mart = better selection
Super K Mart = Groceries and Better Selection.

I remember where the Kmart my BF worked at (and later myself) turned into a Big-K
shudders at the thought of the "Grand Re-Opening
God, I hate Kmart.

Wal-Mart: I go there all the time. The store is almost on my way home from work and the people who work there are great. I do not buy anything from their electronics department, though, ever, because of that “You’re going to shoplift this stuff” policy.

K-Mart: Just down the street from Wal-Mart, slightly more conveniently located on my way home from work. I do not shop there unless I can’t find what I’m looking for at Wal-Mart, because their so-called “customer service” sucks.

Target: I never shop there, because they have no merchandise. Seriously, about 2/3-3/4 of the shelves and racks are empty. And the store is a mess.
