K2, P2 - A Knitty MMP

I have stuff that I need to finish up before the end of the day, but all my motivation’s gone. Poof.

TGIF!!! Plus the start of a long weekend. Huzzah!

Regarding the shoe (not gonna scroll back up to see all the questions) - after **swampy **admired my anniversary shoe with such, um, enthusiasm, I knew I had to have one made for him. As it happened, my sis finished it last week, so I had her mail it to him directly with a little valentine’s note. After all, despite all the abuse he heaps upon me, I lurves me some swampbear! Plus he deserves such a macaroni-covered treasure!

I’ll let him post pics, because the ones my sis sent me aren’t all that great. I saw a few close-up details, but I didn’t get the full effect.

As for my weekend plans - knitting, claying, laundry, chilling, whatevah! Bernie had a bit of a spell again the other night, but she’s back to better than before. Ziva is a real attention whore. Taz isn’t impressed with her. Scruffy chases her. Life is exciting in my zoo.

I’ve taken my daughter to school, put the clean sheets on the bed (still waiting on the comforter to dry), and put away metric buttloads of laundry. I’m still putting laundry away and going through drawers to get rid of stuff. After I get all that squared away, I need to dust and vacuum my room.

My room is turning into an all day project.

I guess I’ve got nothing else to report. I just knew you’d all want to follow the excitement that is my life, though, so I thought I’d pop in here real quick and give you the update.

Sigh…back to it.

Fridays are chore days at our house so before work I did one load of laundry and put a second in the washer. While I was home at lunch, the second load went into the dryer, and I started the 3rd. I also did a very quick bathroom cleaning. (The cleaning lady was here last week and scrubbed everything within an inch of its life so the bathrooms didn’t need much this week.) After work I go buy groceries and then hang the 3rd load of laundry on drying racks (I don’t like my clothes going in the dryer… they get too beat up so only the towel load gets dried in the dryer.) Hopefully, KT vacuums the house when he gets home so I don’t have to be the “mommy” and tell him to do his weekly cleaning duty. This is a point of contention between us - I want help doing household chores, but he feels that because he’s gone for so many hours of the day (>1 hour commute or 11 1/2 hours away from home each day) and I live 5 minutes from home that I should do the lion’s share of the chores. Which I do. But I still want him to do a few things. As I said, it’s an ongoing issue. And it’s why we have a once-a-month cleaning lady: it’s one week without the stress of who’s going to clean what and will we have to argue about it?

All of this leads to a very hectic Friday. But it also means that allllllllllllllllll weekend is ours to enjoy. And that’s worth a little craziness on Fridays as far as I’m concerned!

I’m booooooored.

I got home around 1-ish, and proceeded to tidy up the sewing room because it looked utterly disastrous and I was tired of ignoring the mess. Then I nuked some leftover pasta, watched Gattaca since it was on the boob toob, and puttered around the kitchen for a while.

Some girls from work were supposed to get together for drinks later today, but that’s fallen through. Sooooo… I’m sitting at home with no plans, no Boy, no motivation to cook since I’m alone for dinner, and BORED. Phooey.

mope

I have 16 items checked out from the library and another 7 on hold. I believe I have a problem.

Speaking of cooking, one of them is a Turkish cookbook. I loaned it to my sister with a very broad hint that any time she feels like cookin’ some Turkish stuff, I am available to taste test. She hasn’t taken the hint, dammit, and I’m feeling too damned stupid to cook.

I hate when plans fall through, even when they’re plans I wasn’t much interested in.

Maybe I just hate surprises. Bah.

They have groups for that, js. Book Borrowers Anonymous, for example.

Woven bacon…? Just a bit much, I’d say.

Glad to hear you’ve found a good therapist, Soapy. It’s nice to hear you sounding so positive.

Nava, SheBoss sounds like she has some type of psychological or maybe even medical problem.

Home for a lovely 3-day weekend. Yay!

Guess I should find something to eat…

Back later.

GT

all I have to say is “Yay, the weekend is here”

Howdy Y’all! I’s stuffded and tahred. We went to dindin at Longhorn Steaks. I had me a New Yawk strip, a caesar sallit and a loaded baked N.O.T.. Plus we jus had to get the onion strips appetizer. I have know idea why they call it onion strips, when it’s just fried cut up battered onion with a little mozzarella cheese drizzled over 'em and a nummy spicy dippin sauce. Oh and of course a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig margarita. We didn’t even consider dessert cause we’s stuffded!

If I find my camera i will take pics of my treasure. It just has to be somewhere in da cave, more specifically the study, but I just don’t know where.

One more thing. Ladies. I know some of y’all wear thongs. Thus, I feel it is my duty to put y’all on the path to righteousness by offerin’ up Sister Myotis on the evil of thongs. Listen and learn. She is, after all, southern fried and sanctified.

Mr. Lissar’s feeling better, so I jetted off to the Maul with Attacks Husband, and bought shoes. I hate shoe shopping. I bought these ones in black. They’re comfy.

I hate shoe shopping, I really do. I hope these last three or four years.
We’re going to (me, Mr. Lissar, and AT) going to tidy up, wash up from my attack of bread baking, and hang around chatting until we decide we want to go to bed and kick our quasi-guest out.

We’re heading out soon with some friends to eat at Qdoba’s. Yeah, we’re all high class like that and eat at fancy joints.

After that, we’re returning here to play Redneck Life or something like that. The friends are bringing it over to play. I hope it’s fun.

LiLi--linky no worky. Takes me to the WHOLE Skechers site, not those shoes.

I am home from work and must say this: stupid nurses are annoying as hell. That is all.

Off to find food, hot bath and a Georgette Heyer to waft me away from my plebian existence. Toodles, all.

Huh. It works for me. I’ll try something more specific.

Does this work?

Well, it works for me.

Sulk. Damn computers.

That one works. KEWT SHOES!
I am become obsessed with mandelbrot sets. Google and find out why (too lazy to do the link). Am truly off to bath and book now.

LiLi, me likey those shoes and wants some! They’re just my style and it’s good to hear that they are comfortable.

So glad that it’s FIRDAY and it’s a three day weekend (President’s day celebrated on Monday in the US). No plans other than to relax and hopefully finally get rid of this bronchitis. Will also be crocheting, cooking and (yay!) making that lemon cheese pie of Rebo’s. I’ve had the ingredients for a week or so but haven’t gotten around to making it yet.

Home from work. Thrak is 74% likely to kill me.

Taters, I like Qdoba’s.

Glad Mr. Lisslar is feeling better, LiLi. Gordie would like to eat your shoes.

VBob, did ya pass?

Glad thigs are working out, soapy.

I am awake. I shouldn’t be awake. Hubby should be awake. This morning is supposed to be my sleep-in. Grrrrrrrrr!

I hadn’t told you, had I?

On Thursday I was informed that I had to spend next week in Spain, as Supermegaboss wants to ask me some stuff. Yesterday after work I flew to London Stanstead, today I fly to Saragossa (is that the right number of s?), where Littlebro will pick me up. The Boy was aking why I didn’t just fly yesterday. Let’s count reasons:

  1. preparing the pile of questions that I have myself, for Supermegaboss and for others,
  2. if I’d flown yesterday, I would have “missed a day of work” ($$$) and it would have counted as “a day not in Scotland” per-diem-wise ($). Which part of “consultant=vertical whore” haven’t these people grasped?
  3. in order to fly yesterday, I would have had to either take a same-day flight to Stanstead on Thursday (my poor wallet, these tickets have already been darn expensive as is) or to start the first leg of the trip with a 6am flight… not even I get up that early if I can help it!

So, right now I’m in a hotel in Stanstead and I’ve discovered that my room comes with a wine bottle. No, not a bottle of wine. This was an empty, sitting behind the desk…

People at work were divided between wishing me luck and offering to act as character witnesses if I happen to send Supermegaboss to the ER :stuck_out_tongue: I told this last batch that in case of catfight I’d make sure to get them the footage from the security cameras.

I know what you were all thinking. “Man, I saw that seafood pasta V-Day advice seeking thread thingy, and I loved sturmhauke’s previous scallop and linguine recipe, but I want even more awesomeness so I can make, like, 4 different scallop things on V-Day! And I really hope he posts it here first before that other thread!” Never fear, for I have read your minds and produced the following:

Scallops in Spicy Hoisin Sauce

1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tbsp. sesame oil
1/2 lb. scallops
1/2 tbsp. coconut or white vinegar
1/2 tsp. hoisin sauce
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
1/2 lb. cooked linguine or 2 c. cooked rice

Sautee garlic in sesame oil for 1 minute. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer until scallops are done, 3-4 minutes. Serve over linguine or rice.

What can I say, the cooking muse keeps throwing scallops at me.

Am STARTVING but must wait for Irish Co-worker to get off work so we can go have dinner. I got him a set of whiskey glasses and shot glasses, since he doesn’t have any nice ones - hope he likes them.

Have a good weekend everyone!
