For everyone not from Kansas, Big Brutus is a giant earth moving shovel that was used to strip mine coal in southeast Kansas. When the mines were abandoned and turned over to the State, the mining company abandoned the shovel where it sat because it was too large to move. The people from in and around the town of West Mineral rescued it, and have made a nice museum out of it. The machine is just astonishingly large.
