Kate Middleton is pregnant

July 15, 1905. But she died in 1995 at age 89, just a few months shy of 90.

Ok, I was wrong. The birthday won’t be the 30th. Sorry. (I really do mean that; to be this pregnant in July heat cannot be fun… :frowning: )

Still, I think they’ll have a daughter. Happy, healthy, and growing up to have a free spirit, a strong mind, and a mad smile.

Of course you can. I meant no offence, merely that it is sort of funny. I’m a miserable little sod, so I suppose I look for any way to get a little giggle.

Haha, that is an accurate enough name for them. They go stomping noisily around here in Glasgow too - a right old pain.

As for baby names, I’ve just thought. The kid should be called “Catherine” because then it would be great fun watching the tabloid trash writers trying to get the two different spelling correct. Ooh yes!

If the baby is a girl, my money would be on Victoria - supposedly, that and Elizabeth were the frontrunners had William been a girl. (Also supposedly, the reason neither of Andrew’s daughters were named Victoria or Elizabeth was because they were “reserved” for Charles and Diana’s children.)

Andrew’s daughter Eugenie’s full name is Eugenie Victoria Helena.

Isn’t that the name of “Bonnie Blue Butler” in Gone With the Wind?

Is the former Duchess of York a big GWTW fan?

I don’t know, but way back when I first heard the name I wondered the same thing. My mother’s favorite movie is GWTW, and I’ve seen it several times and read the book. I can remember the scene when Mammie mentions the child has the name of two queens.

But there were other family members with the same names. I think it was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria who was Victoria Eugenie, who married into the royal family of Spain, where some things are named for her.

Unfortunately there is no July heat. :frowning:

I’m willing to bet that a boy child will have Charles as a middle name, and a girl both Elizabeth and Diana.

Victoria Eugenie was named in part after Empress Eugenie. Eugenie married Napoleon III and was a contemporary of Queen Victoria.

finland has sent them a baby box. the baby box is a really fantastic thing.

I think I want to go to Finland and have a baby now. Well, in over 9 months, but y’know what I mean.

That is so cute. Everyone needs one of those (well, everyone with a baby, I guess. Not that I’m judging).

Hmm. Cardboard boxes just don’t seem the Windsor style.

If Nelson Mandela’s death and the Royal Baby’s birth happen at the same time is anyone else wondering which the media will give a higher priority?

I love the fact that the baby box contains condoms.

I love the baby box. That grey jumpsuit with the bunny…

And the names close the loop, because María Eugenia Palafox Portocarrero y Kirkpatrick*, aka Eugenia de Montijo, aka Empress Eugenie, was from Spain (Granada specifically).

  • No, I don’t know that list of names by heart, but I was sure Eugenia de Montijo wouldn’t be her full name.

that did crack me up. could be why “finish twins” is not a popular saying.

i think the baby box is the best thing since ben and jerry’s ice cream. saunas and baby boxes, well done finland!

or will nelson or mandela get into the baby name line up?

Until I clicked on the link, I thought it was some variation of “Skinner Box.”
