The really crazy thing is that at the time, he was running against a guy who absolutely, unambiguously, indisputably wasn’t born in the US, and in fact wasn’t even a citizen at the time of his birth. And nobody cared. Why not? Why did anyone care about the mere idea, implausible as it might be, that Obama was foreign-born, while not caring about the certainty that McCain was?
This is a perfect example of the kind of damage the RW media causes. You have a fantasy narrative of the birth certificate issue, that is immune to facts.
He did answer those questions. There was never any suspense, or any doubt, about where Obama was born. The information was publicly available for all to see since his '08 campaign – there was tons of evidence he was born in Hawaii (including his birth certificate), and zero evidence he was born anywhere else.
Hey, I can do sub-til-ity with the best of 'em.
<Musing…> I got the only speeding ticket of my life in Waco. My first husband and I used to refer to it affectionately as *Wacko *when we lived in Arlington (Texas, not Virginia).
Does any American here actually consider any of the two candidates as a good option for President?
Don’t get the European wrong here: Watching Merkel, Hollande et al. for years has quite convinced me that you, on the other side of the pond, are not quite yet on our level of choosing head of states that do the humanly utmost possible to sabotage their own country.
If I were a claims adjuster, I’d say there was a lot of pre-existing damage to this particular total loss.
I think Clinton is fabulously qualified, and I agree with her on most issues.
No idea why this question is in this thread, but just for an answer:
Yes, I think that my state’s former Senator, who later became the Secretary of State, and is intimately knowledgeable about more major public issues and familiar with more national and international leaders than virtually anybody else in the world is a good option for President. Oh yeah, she would also be the first woman President, a hugely symbolic event in the history of the country and in the lives of women of all ages now and in the years to come.
Her credentials tower head and shoulders above any candidate for the office in recent memory. In fact, it’s hard to find anyone objectively as qualified for the position since the modern Presidency existed.
That’s she up against a rancid clown is merely a side note.
The lame stream media kept the original story alive and they’ve just reanimated this issue once again. Why? Either to sell advertising or to help tired ol’ Hillary’s falling poll numbers, which are falling faster than she did on the street in NYC.
Trump dragged this out to make the political bias of the LSM even more obvious than it has been. And the LSM were too stupid to see it coming. They can’t seem to help themselves anymore.
I doubt any undecided voters will chose a candidate based this tired, old issue, hyping this story does hurt the media outlet’s credibility. It’s the LSM who have ended up looking like chumps.
You think they tower over Gore’s? She had eight years in the Senate before serving four years as a Cabinet Secretary; he had eight years in the Senate, and eight in the House, before serving four years as VP, before serving another four as VP.
Thank you.
I doubt that anyone seriously questions her political experience.
Well, Clinton has been both a senator and Secretary of State: That’s a reasonable enough resume, I think. And she’s apparently managed to be a Washington insider for over two decades without being involved in any scandals, which is also quite impressive. At least, I don’t think that she’s been involved in any scandals: If she were, I’m confident that her political opponents would have told us about them, but so far they haven’t managed to come up with any.
David Farenthold of the Washington Post, who has been doing an impressive job of committing actual journalism in recent weeks, noted today that back in 2012, Trump promised he’d give $5M to charity if it were proven that Obama was indeed born a U.S. citizen.
Today, he sent a query to the Trump campaign, asking for details of how Trump planned to fulfill this pledge. Should be fun to see how Trump tries to weasel out of this one, given the way he’s allergic to giving his own money to charity.
You think “the check is in the mail” is going to be fun? I guess he might bizarrely decide to publicly weasel out of it but just putting it off until everyone forgets seems more likely.
He tried that with the fundraiser for veterans and the WP kept at it. They have a looooong memory.
Lying Spaghetti Monster?
I would add her 20 years of being First Lady of Arkansas and of the United States. She certainly was involved in policy and politics during that time.
But you certainly make a good point about the obvious qualifications of Democratic candidates as compared to Republican ones.
Is that the precedent you hope this follows? You know, still winning his primary despite waiting 4 months to pay up.
Liberal Spin Machine
You can’t use the term “LSM” in the same sentence where you accuse anyone else of being “too stupid.”
