Keep transgender people out of the wrong restroom!

Not all of us have the luxury of living in a place with such fancy toilets, CoastalMaineiac. How are we supposed to afford all of them there par-ti-shuns?

If one can’t tell who is being made fun of then usually it’s cheese.

Say it ain’t so! Not in Trump’s America!?!?!

Shoot, even when I’ve stopped in the wilds of India at a rest stop along a minor road, the ladies toilets have had partitions which extend almost to the ceiling.

There’s normally a 12-inch gap at the floor, but only a raving lunatic would try to get under that, because of the inch or so of…liquids and solids…sluicing along the floors.

Great.

So why do we still pretend they aren’t by having two different restrooms?

You might actually be starting to get my point.

Because I, you know, disagree?

How come you don’t change your conclusions when I point out the flaw in your premises?

Me neither. That’s part of my overall question to the world - why the obsession with sex, or gender, in the first place, as if peeing next to one kind of person is icky but another kind is perfectly normal. Like you, I don’t want to share a bathroom with anyone of any gender, sex, whatever.

lance – why’d you have to start a new thread for this? Wasn’t the one I made for you here in the Pit good enough?

No, because this one’s entirely different. This isn’t about respecting transgender rights to use certain restrooms. I’m on a crusade to ban them from the wrong ones! Just as men can’t use the women’s room, neither can transgender men! Keep them out! Don’t you agree?

As I’ve said in many other threads, I have no interest in keeping people out of certain bathrooms unless they’re entering them for lewd/criminal purposes.

But the other thread would have very happily encompassed this discussion, since it was about you and transgender bathroom issues in general.

I know. Lighten up, Francis.

What I don’t get, though, is why you aren’t out there demanding that people be allowed to use the restroom of their choice, as with transgender people. Oh, yeah, I remember, there’s no “harm” to de facto unisex restrooms that pretend not to be (still not sure where that puts transgender people - kinda back where they started, eh? Oh well).

Let’s not do this again, this is a fun thread. Have fun! Sit back and watch others try to figure out the joke, and then try to escape it.

P.S. Transgender woman forced to use the men’s room, with men - bad.

Transgender woman using the women’s room - with men (since you won’t commit to excluding men from the so-called women’s room) - okay.

Does that make any sense?

I’m just trying to work it out, that’s all.

I used the washroom at the dentist’s office today. It was for men, women or people in wheelchairs.

All at the same time? You’re dentist is awesome; gives new meaning to “getting an oral treatment.”

FWIW, I do want to keep transgender people out of the wrong restroom. They should be limited to using the restroom assigned to their current gender. A trans-man, formerly a woman, should be using the men’s room. The other room would be wrong, and he shouldn’t go there.

So, other than disagreeing over which restroom is wrong, what’s the debate?

Has anyone actually declared a belief that trans-gender persons may choose, as convenience dictates, to use either/both gender-assigned restrooms?

Is there any hope of getting one of those “this poster may no longer post on that subject” rules for lance strongarm and the issue of transgender people and bathrooms? While I suppose being known as the poster obsessed with where transgender people urinate is its own punishment, I think everyone else’s experience on the SDMB would be improved if he would STFU about it already.

I think this is an important moment. Don’t stop him now, I think he’s wrapping up his wind-up and is about to deliver a point. Should only require a few more dozen pages now.

There you go.

I don’t know. Some people have found a way though. I find that amusing.

If you don’t like my posts, don’t read them.

For the record, I’ve only posted, I think, two threads on this subject. That’s hardly alot. One with my name on it was posted by someone else.

As for participation in those threads, well, if everyone else wasn’t interested in it, they’d stop posting in them too. Don’t blame me.

Now, that said - as I’ve already explained, this has nothing to do with transgender issues, it’s about logic. It seems that it’s taking alot of posts for some people to even see that, let alone get my point about the logic.

Or maybe I delivered the point long ago and it went over your head.

I suppose that’s possible. Was this the point?

There it was, right out of the gate and I missed it. It’s good that you’re concerned about this. Do me a favor (not that you owe me, mind you) and worry about this so that I don’t have to. Thanks.
