Keeping it in the family

Anyone know how many degrees of separation there are between members of the species human?

I don’t know whether to answer this with “a duck” or to search IMDB for “Bacon, Kevin+Australopithcine”

Could you be a wee bit more clear with your question?

Ok then.

Now, we all know that every member of the human species is realted, correct? Every human on this planet is related to a genetic Eve, meaning, in a sense, we’re all one incredibly huge family. So, just how close-knit of a family are we?

I believe this is a mis-use of the mitochondrial Eve concept. The relationships don’t map to a simple family tree in a meaningful way.
