Are there any bad effects of keeping medications in plastic film canisters (washed of course)?
I can’t think of any, seeing as how many people purchase the daily pill organizer containers. However, it does remove the possibility of medical personal identifying the pills quickly in case of emergency.
The biggest problem I could see would be if for some reason you became involved in some sort of police activity. As far as I know, possession of prescription drugs without the pharmacy bottle is illegal in most states. My sister in law spent 8 hours in jail a few years ago when she was caught with her prescription medicines in a plastic baggy. Her father had to bring the original prescription bottles to the police station before she was released and she was given a stern warning about carrying prescription medicines without the bottles.
Plus you can create trouble for yourself by trying to go through airport security in this fashion - they want you to transport your meds in the original bottles whenever possible.
Ditto. You can’t prove you’re the rightful holder of the prescription without it. Nonprescription meds? I carry them in anything available.
Actually, I’m more concerned with possible health issues (interaction of the plastic/film residue with the meds).
And for the record, I keep my meds in unmarked baggies when I travel, and have never had any problem at customs; the issue has never even come up.
