he admitted that he made up the story… i agree… but that has nothing to do with the populist allegory! it is a fictional story which tried to further prove the point of the populists you idiot.

  4. True it is a work of fiction. Duh! John W. Kennedy wasn’t talking about that. From http://www.halcyon.com/piglet/Populism.htm :

Littlefield is the author of the original paper* that started the whole “Oz is a Populist Allegory” movement. In other words, the guy who started the whole thing rolling states that Baum was not a populist supporter. So why would Baum write a story that supports the populist movement? In other words, Littlefield made up the story that The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a populist allegory. That is what Kennedy was saying.
