Littlefield is the author of the original paper* that started the whole “Oz is a Populist Allegory” movement. In other words, the guy who started the whole thing rolling states that Baum was not a populist supporter. So why would Baum write a story that supports the populist movement? In other words, Littlefield made up the story that The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a populist allegory. That is what Kennedy was saying.
