Don’t know what grade inflation and falling standards of assessment are like in the US, but its possible that a 76,77 average might have been quite decent back in the day. Probably a better mark then than now.

I can’t believe this actually popped up on Google, but here’s the whole history of the Yale grading system. (2-page PDF.)

Fall 1932 through Spring 1966 :

A 100-point numerical grading system was used in Yale College with the following demarcations:

A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D (passing) 60-69 F 50-59

I looked at the news stories, and I came to one conclusion that should be relatively uncontroversial.

John Kerry was pretty goofy looking back in the day.

There were lots of stories during the campaign about supposed plastic surgery undertaken by John Kerry at various times, including allegations of fake tans and Botox injections. Whatever he had done has improved his looks considerably, so I can’t fault him for it.
