At this stage I’ve decided on the CP33 from the Yamahas. I’m also considering the Roland FP4, Kawai CN31, and Kawai MP5. The wife wants something that looks like a piece of furniture, but she’s not paying for it…
I have just placed an order for a Roland FP4. The FP4 won because I can get it for only a couple of hundred dollars more than the Yamaha CP33 and P140. In addition It has internal speakers which the CP33 lacked, and much improved functionality over the P140, for example, the P140 limits you to four bass sounds on the left in split mode but I’d like to be able to layer synth, string, and organ sounds. Finally the “session partner” sounds like fun! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to listen to any of these keyboards though I have played similar keyboards with the same keyboard type as their respective brand partner (I actually preferred the feel of the Yamaha keys but not in a big way.)
Cool! Waiting is the hardest part. Make sure you fully inspect the package before you sign for it from the delivery company. Can’t be too careful with major purchases like this.
