Well here we are , staring at the end of 2026.What a year! For me, the bestpart was watching Europeans and Australians discover the fabulousness of American convenience stores! Many, many videos were watched and cheered at. ![]()
So Whatcha all readin?
Print:
Astarion by T. Kingfisher, not bad but kind of lackluster and lacking in truly creative moments since she’s writing in someone else’s world. The Goodreads firebombing has been endlessly amusing.
Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis Baldree. Cozy fantasy, it feels a bit like a softer, warmer, less viscious version of Thieves World, the 80s series edited by Robert Lynn Asprin & Lynn Abbey. One of my favorite Regency romance writers called the series “All vibe and no plot” and I see where she’s coming from.
Kindle:
The Inventor by Emily Organ I’ve read this once before but I was in the mood to revisit it.
Khadaji was one of the earlier members of SDMB, and he was well-known as a kindly person who always had something encouraging to say, particularly in the self-improvement threads. He was also a voracious, omnivorous reader, who started these threads 'way back in the Stone Age of 2005. Consequently, when he suddenly and quite unexpectedly passed away in January 2013, we decided to rename this thread in his honor and to keep his memory, if not his ghost, alive.
